Eight West Party Goes Last to First with Monster Close in The GP Mile.

The GP Mile Grade 3

1 Mile on DirtPurse $200,000 For Four Year Olds And Upward
-Gulfstream Park Hallandale Beach, Florida

Eight West Party from Twin Towers Racing made some backers nervous early Saturday as he took a while to load and then when he did, he broke slow and took back far off the pace. Those same backers were screaming the loudest as they entered the stretch drive, as “Party” roared down the lane to pick them all off and have the last laugh in a visually dramatic showing. Congrats to the winning connections and for the rider who timed it to perfection. Obi Wan from Mb Stables pressed the pace and took over at the right time, in what looked like a winning move, but then could not hold off the freight train winner on the afternoon. Solid effort and the four-year-old certainly looks like he has avoided the four-year-old jinx. My Tomorrows from Maxmillion Farm sat behind the pace, moved into contention nicely, but couldn’t quite catch Obi Wan for second and couldn’t hold off the winner who blew by them both. Solid effort back up in class. Never Hold Back from The Sidley Stud sent along from the inside and pressed the pace the whole way. Solid effort in defeat as the gelded son of Marketable just got a little tired the last eighth and could not respond late.

Of the rest:

Shadow Senator from Arindel gunned from the outside post and considering the company that he has been keeping, ran well to just miss the bottom of the superfecta.

Oh Brother from Threshold made a nice move turning in, but then suddenly flattened out. He either did not care for the surface switch or could be damaged goods. Watch in his next start, most likely on turf to find out.

Quiet Return from John Henry appears to be off form, as that makes three straight no-show efforts, now on the drop.

Criminal Law from DJC Racing Stables will have to win a couple races and then retry for the hat trick. Sat off the pace and had little to offer late.

Haiku Stairs from Delta Farms pressed and stopped, finding these rivals too tough on the afternoon.

Excogitator from Family Racing was scratched from the race.
