Silks Run Stakes
Purse $125.000 For Four Year Olds And Upward
-Gulfstream Park Hallandale Beach, Florida
Hats off to Teterboro from Chili King Stables as the four year old gelding and his gutsy pilot made a huge rail run late to grab the prize. Nice job and congrats to the winning connections. Nitro from The Sidley Stud did everything but win today, cutting out all the fractions and just missing the prize. Nice effort on the afternoon against a salty group. Niagra Thunder from Threshold made a nice late move today to grab third in his first start against this caliber of horseflesh. Nice effort on the raise. Tank Davis from Royalty Stables sat right off the blistering pace and did well to hang on to complete the superfecta. Solid effort by the four year old colt.
Of the rest;
Gorilla Glue from Maxmillion Farm came out and got position, but didn’t have enough in the tank to impact them late in what can be considered an even effort.
Bay Another Man from Our Athletes got pounded at the windows late, but again could not come out better than fifth and then rushed up into a solid second quarter. As a result he had little punch left late and ran sixth.
Ashurbanipal from Invicta Group Llc broke against the bit, possibly on purpose and dropped back into a trailing position. Did not have the gas to rally late as his backers hoped.
Spin Zone from Mb Stables didn’t have the best outing of his career today. Junior Alvarado had his hands full early as he was being pulled out of the saddle. Soon after the half mile pole and for reasons known only to the connections, “Zone” came off the bit slightly and dropped out of contention to finish eighth.
Bow And Arrow from The Sidley Stud found the surface and the company not to his liking and ran last in a dismal effort. Look for him on dirt in his next start.
