1 OP The Azeri (GII)
$400.000 4yo&Up F&M 1 1/16m Dirt 122lbs
A weather disclaimer was issued prior to this one, and we hit the exacta… Muddy, indeed. Chalky, indeed. Post time favorite Spring Street, from the High Voltage outfit, stalked the early pace, moved up when asked and went under the wire in front by a length to take Saturday’s Azeri (GII), here at OP. The final running time for the mile and a sixteenth was 1:45.03. The 6yo gray mare took down her seventh lifetime win, her first of the ’26 season, and runs her career earnings to $1,389.600 while putting another graded race in her chart. Congrats to the connections!
TwinTowersRacing’s Starting Over closed from well back to nab the runner-up share of the $400.000 purse, then three-quarters of a length to Nakamura Stables’ Spirit Storm in third. It was an equal distance back to Mb Stables No Ones Comparing grabbing the minor money. Nine lengths covered the field of eight as we had two scratches, El Grande Latte and Jawaher.
