Go For Glory Goes Wire-To-Wire in Doubledogdare Stakes

Doubledogdare Stakes (Grade 2)- $400.00 Purse
KEE- For Fillies and Mares Four Years Old and Upward
One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Dirt
April 17, 2026

Go For Glory has been a very consistent filly over her career, placing first or second in six of her eight previous starts, but she was still looking for her stake win. She looked to have a good chance to do so in the Doubledogdare Stakes, and we would pick her to accomplish the feat. She was not the favorite, as the bettors liked Devil In High Heels to become the first two-time winner of this race, but perhaps that is something that Go For Glory can do next year. For now, trainer Mb Stables will celebrate this win, which is his fifth in the race. Jockey L Dettori picks up his first such win. Congratulations to them! The race was won in a time of 1:41.54, the fourth quickest in the race’s history. Let’s take a look at it:

(1/4 Mile- :23.17)- Our eventual winner from Mb Stables, Go For Glory, wastes no time in getting out to the race lead. She’ll have no problem moving over to the rail as they work around the opening turn. They’re four wide for second, and the outside horse, Mo Mentum Farm’s Gutter Black, has a neck in front of the others. Immediately to her inside, The Sidley Stud’s R U Ready To Code is in third, while the Greyfriars Stable’s El Sweetie rides the rail, and Rock Creek’s Absolute Zero runs with them. Behind them by a length, not much separates Devil In High Heels (The Sidley Stud) and Shericka (Winning Link Stables). Trumpino (TwinTowersRacing) is the early trailer.

(½ Mile- :46.83)- Go For Glory looks strong out in front, continuing to lead by about a length as they head down the backstretch. That four wide group has worked itself out, and no sees R U Ready To Code all by herself in second and stalking the leader. El Sweetie and Gutter Black run evenly with one another for third, while it’s about a length to Absolute Zero. Further back, Devil In High Heels and Shericka still run together while Trumpino can see them all.

(Top Of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- Go For Glory maintains her pace while rounding the turn and holds serve while out in front by a length. About midway into the turn, R U Ready To Code showed signs of wanting to take a run at her, but she has not been able to make up any additional ground to this point. El Sweetie, the overwhelming longshot, continues to have a good rail trip and is in the third spot while the outside running Gutter Black is keeping up. As Absolute Zero lacks response, Devil In High Heels struts her stuff on the outside but has a lot of ground to make up and several horses running well to get by. Shericka lost ground to her, and Trumpino had yet to do anything.

(Finish- 1:41.54)- In the stretch, Go For Glory looked to take this home and get that wire-to-wire win, and with a furlong to go, it seemed to be in the bag for her as no one was coming on quickly enough. Her consistent stride would allow her to take care of business and win the Doubledogdare by half a length. It’s close for second, but El Sweetie prevails in a close photo with the late running Devil In High Heels, and her stablemate R U Ready To Code can also be seen in that photo, as is fifth Gutter Black. The remaining order of finish will read Absolute Zero and Shericka, plus a lackluster Trumpino.

About The Winner- Go For Glory, trained by Mb Stables and ridden to victory by L Dettori, is a four-year-old filly by Championship Rounds and is out of Impulsive. She was bred in New York by Mb Stables as a third quarter two-year-old, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her fifth in nine starts, and first stake win. Her career earnings are now $473.35.
