Lea wins for Mb as the three year olds fill five of the top six places

The PID Masters Stakes – Grade II
6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $400.00 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Lea, trained by Mb Stables
Unbeaten in two top class graded stakes since being bought from D J C Racing Stables this is a great addition to the already dominant Mb Stables. settling just in behind the pace she picked them up readily and pulled away for a fairly comprehensive three quarter length win. A winner of six from eight this year she goes from strength to strength and being a three year old must now be among the favourites for the fillies and mares sprint in November.

2nd Sweep Clean, trained by Manco Segundo
Further evidence that the four year olds have been given their seasonal boost she ran a great race from a horrible draw. It seems like a long time since this admirably consistent filly has been out of the first two and she once again ran her heart out in top company.

3rd Queen Of Broadway, trained by Aer Stables
The three year olds filled three of the top four places and this one ran a nice race from a difficult draw. Into the stalk early she lead inside the final furlong but was out battled in the end. Lightly raced she has plenty of scope and should continue to improve as the season gets into the Autumn stage.

4th Enticing, trained by Heavens Own
Ran on well to be fourth and looks to be crying out for a mile now. A daughter of Commanding she should see out the mile well and she was running like she would appreciate a little further. She got closer to Lea than she did in The Test so is clearly improving a bit too.

SUMMARY
Five of the top six places were filled by three year olds which goes to prove the weight allowance although less in this race is still too much for the older horses to compete with. Sweep Clean was the one challenger from the older horses and ran a super race to be second under the circumstances.
