Day Mile G2
1 Mile Dirt $750.00 3 Year Olds
Churchill Downs Louisville, KY
Petit A Petit from Jerry Garcia Racing proved just how good he is by running a monster Saturday in The Day Mile. “Petit” sat a perfect stalking trip, angled out and ran down an ultra-game Need Cash Now from Mb Stables for the victory. “Petit” is lightly raced and seems to be improving with every passing day. Congrats to the wining connections for a super effort today. It will be interesting to see where this guy tops out at. Need Cash Now from Mb Stables ran a big effort today by cutting out all the fractions and hanging tough for second. Many a three-year-old would have spit out the bit with an eighth of a mile to go, but “now” just kept fighting. Talk about fighting, Justified from Alydar Stables was wide every step of the way and took a lot of air with little to no cover as our overseas friends would say. Big effort in just missing a second-place check. Resurgent from DJC Racing broke well and fought all the way, just got a tad short over the last eighth of a mile and held fourth place in a solid effort.
Of The Rest:
Blacketer from Serenity Stables was our top choice and got hammered down to favoritism by the monster crowd on hand today. He ran big but was under attack from all sides and never really got a breather as they jostled for position. This should have him well primed for another paycheck soon.
Starbright from TwinTowersRacing made up a decent amount of ground late after dropping far back early but just couldn’t get to the topflight late.
Record Machine from Acber Farms ran about the race we expected, like the connections, we were just hoping for a little bit more late.
Fandom from Aer Stables was not able to repeat the efforts seen in Arcadia or at Sunland Park and finished eighth.
The Wrong Guy from Night Rider Stables was positioned a touch closer than expected and paid the price late as he backed out of contention.
Suspended, also from Mb Stables was the surprise package in here but only managed to muster a tenth-place finish and never really got involved in a disappointing effort.
Control The Center, also from Mb Stables continues to look like a horse not really wanting two-turns, even with a win in the Pharoah Stakes showing in his past performance lines. He certainly ran a dull race this afternoon, even given the outside draw setback.
Ranger Jim from Williams9 unfortunately for the connections and backers just never made a move today and only beat one home.
Forward Facing from Pan Farms came out and got position right behind the leaders and then slowly and methodically backed out to last as the stable bills keep stacking up on this $277.00 purchase.
Hulk from DJC Racing Stables was a late scratch and I have no vet information to pass along at this time.
