Brandy Dial from The Sidley Stud took it to his stablemate (Minnesota Heat) and everybody else by running them off their hooves early and hanging on late to capture the Coin Collector in gate-to-wire fashion in front of a large crowd Saturday afternoon. Congrats to the winning connections. The post time favorite ended up being Timberfied from T Boy Racing, as he looked for the hat trick but was denied by a diminishing quarter of a length at the wire. Timberfied came charging late but just couldn’t get to the winner who had opened up a few lengths between calls early. Minnesota Heat, also from The Sidley Stud was looking to get back to the winner’s circle and was clearly the class of the race, but the three-year-old colt couldn’t keep pace early and was unable to gain back the needed ground today.
Of The Rest:
Smallest Man Ever from Rock Creek just missed getting third place but did manage to beat one rival home.
Wild Bun from Zoeller was sharp as a tack going in, but the dream of four straight winner’s circle parties ended abruptly after not being able to impact anybody in the early stages. That fact sealed his fate at this distance and especially the way the race was run.
