The Miss PS – (Grade lll)
Purse $150.00 – For Fillies Three Years Old
6 Furlongs – Dirt
Laurel Park – May 15, 2026
What an incredible turn of foot Brienne Pinnacle displayed in the 21st edition of The Miss PS! She absolutely flew down the stretch in her graded stakes debut and put together the best performance of her career. I have to give a lot of credit to Martyparty for entering this Florida-bred as she has cleared only one allowance condition prior to this start. Brienne Pinnacle’s career earnings now sit at $116.20, with this being her third career victory. This filly’s impressive 1:09.39 final time over six furlongs not only showcased her late closing kick but should also result in the best speed figure she has recorded to date. It was also a breakthrough afternoon for both Martyparty and jockey Shaun Bridgmohan, as they both earned their first-ever victory in The Miss PS. Well, Brienne Pinnacle is definitely a filly to watch going forward, as this is back-to-back wins for his three-year-old. A big congratulations to the connections on a well-deserved grade three victory!
Winner: Brienne Pinnacle – (Martyparty, S X. Bridgmohan) She didn’t show a lot of speed from the gate, as she settled in fifth down the backstretch about three lengths off the leaders. Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan waited a little longer than usual as he didn’t ask Brienne Pinnacle to go around the 5/16 pole. There were some anxious moments as this filly was entering the stretch because she was still far back and there was a wall of four horses in front of her. Shaun somehow found room between two rivals and absolutely rolled home like a freight train. Brienne Pinnacle didn’t take the lead until the final strides and won by a half-length. The future looks bright for the daughter of Superior Pinnacle!
Second Place: Sod Fairy – (Nakamura Stables, R. Bejarano) The morning line favorite quickly put herself into contention and remained a major factor in the early stages. Sod Fairy sat on the rail just off the hip of Supa Speed, who was setting the pace upfront. She began making a move as they passed the ⅜ pole and took the lead at the top of the lane. This Ontario-bred looked like a winner running down the stretch, as she quickly put a length on the field. However, in the blink of an eye, Brienne Pinnacle was really starting to make up ground behind her and announced her presence at the 1/16 pole. Sod Fairy had to settle for second, but it was still another eye-catching performance.
Third Place: Calliope – (Panionios Racing, M. Franco) This was another filly who was making her graded stakes debut, and she ran a respectable race. It wasn’t an ideal trip for Calliope as she raced three-wide down the backside stalking the pacesetter. The West Virginia-bred started moving up at the 5/16 pole and set her sights on the leaders. Manny Franco had his horse well within striking distance at the top of the stretch, and she ended up floating a little wide in the five-path. Calliope still kicked home well, but just didn’t have enough to keep up with Brienne Pinnacle or Sod Fairy late. Connections should be pleased with this effort, as she had the most experience in the field this year.
Fourth Place: Shedaresthedevil – (D J C Racing Stables, J R. Velazquez) Coming out of New York state-bred races, this filly put together an even fourth-place effort. She settled in the second flight of horses down the backstretch about two lengths off Sod Fairy and Supa Speed. There was trouble starting to appear around the far turn, as Shedaresthedevil was boxed in behind horses. Jockey Johnny Velazquez had to just sit and wait for a lane to open up, and that was up until the 3/16 pole. The rail opened up, but he decided to take his filly between horses. Shedaresthedevil started to run on and ended up losing momentum in deep stretch. I would like to see what this filly can do around two turns.
