A big weekend of stakes action in up-state NY and we get a very class group of ladies set to go a mile and an eighth on the main track in The Phipps Stakes (GI) [BC], with a nice purse and BC ramifications… this is sure to be an instant classic.

Can you look at this field and go past Starting Over?  I cannot… what a war-mare, 8yo and running with beating the best of the best.  In a time where we whisk them off to the breeding shed at first chance, this 8yo is still putting money in the bank like a lemonade stand in July.  It looks like the barn will ensure an honest past, so look for her to be rolling late.

Speaking of classy ladies, Wasted Away is another that certainly knows how to get the job done.  She’s a bit more of a front-end horse, so it’s going to be interesting to see how the big barn plays their hand today. 

There’s a bunch of other $1000+ winners in here, so it’s adds up to be one heck of a race.  Grab a cold-snack and let’s get down to the rail to take this one in.
