1st      Delilahs Den                Simmer Down Stable              23-1(HRP) 5-1 (SRF)

Delilahs Den showed that class matters as she dropped down from graded competition and found easier competition at this level. It made sense to me but not to the general public who sent her off at 23-1. She ran the classic closer race in the classic closer race as three horses led by Chariots Of Angels hooked up in a tight duel that lasted into the stretch leaving perfect conditions for the closer crowd to swoop down the stretch for the major prizes, and there was Delilahs Den cruising along in last with Rispoli counting and into the stretch still in eight but first by a length at the wire.

2nd     Lucky Artist            The Sidley Stud            6-1(HRP) 10-1 (SRF)

Lightly raced three-year-old Lucky Artist is still learning her way around but doing  good job of it with a deep close from sixth place to second at the finish line, which normally would have been the winning move had it not been for the perfect run of Delilahs Den.

3rd        Mann                           Royalty Stables                6-1(HRP) 20-1 (SRF)

Very lightly raced Mann hadn’t shown much yet except that very revealing mile workout I mentioned, and it looks like I should have paid more attention to my own observations because she got into a speed duel from the start that made her look the winner coming into the stretch until the closers came storming down the stretch.

4th      Maiden Jane              Winning Link Stables         6-1(HRP) 9-2 (SRF)

Maiden Jane still hasn’t returned to her usual breakneck speed lead, but she was still the speed factor in this race as she was in the battle for the lead for most of the first mile before being caught by the closers to be beaten a length in fourth.
