Nine Sharp Lasses in The Victory Ride

                                               The Victory Ride- Grade III

6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt Graded Stake Purse $225.00 Fillies Three  Years Old. At SAR

The Victory Ride: I expect to see  Dreambits dueling for the lead with Lady Jane Grey and Lily Potter then Cailleach and Acapulco Gray stalking midpack and Shes Complicated deepest. By the time they reach the wire, Dreambits and then Cailleach and Acapulco Gray due to their conservative stalking style come in together. If there’s a really hot pace, everything falls apart up front and Shes Complicated swoops in to pick up the pieces… and I win my place bet.

Here’s the field:

Horse                                  Owner                              Odds    SRF

Dreambits                           Mb Stables                       *9-5        94

Acapulco Gray                   Maxmillion Farm                 2-1        96

Cailleach                              Jerry Garcia Racing          2-1        99

Lily Potter                           Delta Farms                       4-1        95

Lady Jane Grey                  Big Jd Racing                      7-2        86

Shes Complicated              TwinTowersRacing              6-1        94

Shes Chasing Me               Mb Stables                          8-1        96

Worldofconfussion             Winning Link Stables        20-1        93

Killer Conquistador            Greyfriars Stable               20-1        97

Lily Potter                Delta Farms            95

Lily Potter has won five of eight including the $100.00 Ruling Angel in her most recent effort which was the continuation of a three-race win streak. Although her competition has not been as stiff as here, she has met each step up with bravado and can be expected to do the same in this race.

Lady Jane Grey               Big Jd Racing             96

Lady Jane Grey has been a little inconsistent  coming along, but that can likely be chalked off to her connections looking for the right spot to dance. She looked sharp running second in The $175.00 Jersey Girl. She won at 5 1/2 furlongs in a dead heat the race before, and lost The Jersey Girl by a nose; so she’s closing in by noses.

3   Shes Complicated                 TwinTowersRacing                94

Well, here is where all my Disney Dollars are going for her to place: Shes Complicated is very young and lightly raced, and she is very complicated by the fact that she is a deep closer and tries to run that way every race, no matter her circumstance. She broke her maiden dynamically, then showed great promise in the $250.00 VA Oaks finishing third, then again promising in the Grade I Ashland running fifth but closing well. The next race was typical deep closer inconsistent flop, move on to another promising close fourth in The $175.00 Jersey Girl. And that brings us to now, and I think if she learned her lesson in The Jersey Girl she’s good for at least second in this race, but you can’t expect me to place her up there in my handicap…they’d stone me at the ticket booths.

4   Killer Conquistador                  Greyfriars Stable              93

Killer Conquistador, stakes winner last year, Grade I placed last year, BC Juvenile Fillies competitor last year and then Mb Stables sold her for $175.00 and she has raced in four stakes races since and only managed one third in the $30.00 Dye Stakes.

5   Dreambits          Mb Stables                      94

Dreambits has been nothing but gold bits her whole life. Why, she was fourth in a Grade I in her second start. She broke her maiden in the $175.00 Golden State Juvenile Fillies! And that’s just getting started. Coming up to the KY Oaks she won The Grade III Forward Gal Stakes and The Grade II GP Oaks and was second in The Grade III Honeybee but finished seventh in the big race. Undeterred, she returned to the trenches in The Grade I Acorn and finished third. With all that positive graded stakes experience, she should handle this field.

6   Cailleach                     Jerry Garcia Racing           99

Cailleach has been close in some important races and won the $175.00 Cincinnati Trophy Stakes. Her fifth in the Grade III Selene Stakes is not to be dismissed, she was five lengths back in third at the top of the lane and only one length back in fifth at the wire. That was a courageous run that earned her a SRF 99 in defeat. I would worry about every horse that finished in the first five of that race.

7   Worldofconfussion                   Nakamura Stables             93

After her debut on dirt, Worldofconfussion spent her next nine races as a dedicated turf runner. I would suspect that an analysis of her work led to her connections deciding to give dirt a go in The $200.00 Bouwerie where she led deep into the stretch only to be caught third at the wire. Liked the surface; came back to play in the dirt.

8   Shes Chasing Me       Mb Stables                    96

Shes Chasing Me is a speedster which had been frustratingly running second or third in near every stakes race she entered… that is until her most recent race, The $175.00 Jersey Girl, which she won. It will be interesting to see what she will do now that she a stakes winner.

9   Acapulco Gray                     Maxmillion Farm             96

Lightly raced Acapulco Gray is on a streak of wins and places that includes a win in the $100.00 Any Limit and a second in each of the Grade II Beaumont and Grade II Eight Belles. It’s the kind of form that you’d expect to be leading up to a win in this race. Her works are scorching the needles off the timers. With her lifetime form, she is one to be feared from any post position.
