Wants It All Reinvents Herself With a Front-Running IND Oaks Victory

The IND Oaks – (Grade lll)

Purse $200.00 – For Fillies Three Years Old

1 1/16 Miles – Dirt

Horseshoe Indianapolis – July 11, 2026

Due to the SimRacingForm outage on Friday and Saturday, the preview for The IND Oaks never got a chance to be published. It was still an intriguing race as Wants It All showcased a new dimension, taking the lead early and never looking back. The daughter of Falling Angel looked poised for a top effort after not being a factor taking on the boys in the Belmont Stakes and running in the Kentucky Oaks. It seemed like the distance was too much for Wants It All, so cutting her back to 1 1/16 miles was a great move by Mo Mentum Farm. She stopped the clock in 1:41.73, which was 0.07 seconds faster than last year’s running. Her career earnings took a jump to an impressive $1,973.28 in just five lifetime wins. This victory marked a second IND Oaks win for jockey Gerardo Corrales and a first for owner Mo Mentum Farm. The Kentucky Oaks proved to be a key prep, with half of this year’s starters coming from that race and its top three finishers once again occupying the trifecta. Congratulations to the connections on a deserved win!

Winner: Wants It All – (Mo Mentum Farm, G. Corrales) This was graded stakes win #3 for this filly in twelve career starts. It looked like Wants It All was going to be coming from off the pace, but connections threw a curveball and put her on the lead. She broke extremely sharp from the gate just to the outside of Janney who was on the rail. They set early fractions of 23.44, 47.19, and 1:11.17. This New York-bred started to inch away from the field down the backside, creating a little bit of a cushion. At the quarter pole, Wants It All put away Janney and was about one length clear. She was pretty much home free at that point with Exciting still starting to close on the outside, but it was too late. The winning margin was a neck. Well done!

Second Place: Exciting – (Maxmillion Farm, A. Cedillo) Coming out of the Delaware Oaks finishing second to the undefeated Monarchy, this filly ended up being my top pick. Exciting was unlucky with her post position, drawing the widest in a field of ten. Jockey Abel Cedillo did a good job getting her to save ground as much as possible heading into the first turn. She settled three-wide in seventh about four lengths off the pace down the backside. It wasn’t until the field passed the quarter-pole that Exciting started to mount her bid on the leaders. She made up significant ground in the stretch, but was just too far back early on to win. No doubt this homebred for Maxmillion Farm will eventually be a multiple graded stakes winner.

Third Place: Wicked Angelina – (The Sidley Stud, L. Contreras) Being a habitual deep closer, it seems like this daughter of Techfluence Heat needs the perfect trip to find the winner’s circle. Wicked Angelina has historically done well when drawn on the rail, with two wins and a second. She saved ground the whole race and allowed jockey Luis Contreras to conserve her valuable energy for the stretch drive. Things were pretty uneventful down the backside, settling in sixth about four lengths off the speed. Wicked Angelina ran into a bit of trouble at the quarter pole looking at a wall of horses in front of her. It wasn’t until the final furlong that she found daylight and absolutely rocketed home. With a clean trip, she might have been the winner.

Fourth Place: Janney – (Royalty Stables, T. Gaffalione) Coming out of an N1X win, this New York-bred ran extremely well. She has always done her best running while being close to the lead and this race was no different. Janney traded punches early with the eventual winner around the first turn and down the backside. It looked like this filly was getting into a comfortable rhythm, but at the ⅜ pole the alarm bells were ringing. Wants It All was slowly starting to inch away, leaving Janney and jockey Tyler Gaffalione little chance to make up ground. She still fought on gallantly in the stretch and ended up fading back to finish fourth. This homebred for Royalty Stables is just learning how to run. One to keep in your watchlist.
