Scottish Shortbread Heads Liberty Bell Field at PRX

                                                   Liberty Bell

6 1/2 Furlongs Stake Purse $150.00 Fillies & Mares Three-Year-Olds & Upward. At PRX

Liberty Bell looks to belong to Scottish Shortbread which figures to extend her record to 7 of 12 with a win here based on her impressive recent record. I have a bit of a longshot in second. Chocolate Bomber hasn’t been winning much lately, but she seems to be on the improve recently, and I like her upset chances. On the outside is speed demon Dusty Heart which could catch some push and run away with this race,

Here’s the handicap:

Horse                                  Owner                               Odds  SRF

Scottish Shortbread         YME Stable                        *7-5        99

Chocolate Bomber            TwinTowersRacing              5-1        94

Dusty Heart                        SamIam                               8-5        99

Contangle                          Nakamura Stables               4-1        92

Hunt The Stars                  John Henry                          6-1        93

Daisen                                London Racing                  20-1        88

Contangle               Nakamura Stables              92

Contangle had been away from stakes racing for a while until last out where she returned to the seven-furlong $200.00 Audubon Oaks where she finished a slight tired second, but at this distance, she could be a major factor.

Scottish Shortbread                  YME Stable                     99

Lightly raced four-year-old Scottish Shortbread has won 6 of 11 starts. Brought along with incredible patience by Trainer Bob at YME Stable, she won a couple of overnighters at PRX and CD before finishing third in the Grade III Bernardo Stakes at DMR, one of the grand old stakes of HRP first won by future HOF mare  Poisonessmonster. The way she was closing against that superior field makes me think she’ll get her timing right here.

3   Chocolate Bomber                           TwinTowersRacing            94

Chocolate Bomber is my super-secret dark horse longshot. She is so secret, I’ not going to tell you why I picked second. OK, I’m kidding. OK, OK, it’s because I have a deal with Tommy: whenever I cover a race with one of his horses, I put $2.00 to place on his horse; and then we split the winnings. Fine. I’ll tell you the super-secret secret: ever since the marathon tune-up in June, Chocolate Bomber has been improving gangbusters at sprints including a third in The $175.00 Twin Bridges and a short loss second in an ELP overnighter that led to here.

4   Hunt The Stars          John Henry               93

Since being purchased from Panionios Racing for $250.00, Hunt The Stars has been a little off. However, lately things have been looking up with a close second in the Grade III Colors at CD followed his most recent race The $100.00 Regret Stakes.

5   Daisen                  London Racing               94

Daisen once raced for a claiming tag of $8.50 but still remains in her breeder’s stable. She has worked her way up through the ranks to the point that she finished third in a Gade III stakes beaten only a nose. In her race before last, she placed second in the $50.00 Hastings at EMD and won her most recent, an overnighter at SAR

6   Dusty Heart                 SamIam               99

One of the more big-time raced lasses in this race, Dusty Heart comes in here off a hot string of sprints starting with a speedy win in a TUP overnighter, followed by a second  in the $100.00 Diana Stakes at BTP and then second in the Grade III Hendrie Stakes at WO prior to coming here.
