Well its official, the odds Monkeys are morons! Whatever technology they use to work out the odds was clearly bought from TEMU because it couldn’t have got this race more wrong.
This is a grade one winning three year old, working strongly and trained by one of the best in the game so let’s just say the 65/1 odds looked just a bit generous. Even more evidence that this one was a winning chance was that this jokey who is the prize everybody wants in stakes races these days went for this filly.
So as they loaded the gate it was clear this filly knew nothing about the odds monkey opinions of her and was looking greedily at the nine furlong trip after being forced to sprint in her last two, she was ready and boy did she prove that she is back.
Just behind the speed and pulling her virtual Midas’s arms out, when she got running the result was never in doubt despite the first half of the race being run at a dawdle. This was a run that said she is back at that the three year olds are travelling up the improvement curve towards their older rivals.
2nd Fabulous Gdp Inc Saez L 1:48.37
Well she may have taken six of her ten races to break her maiden but after a couple of years off she has clearly changed her mind about racing. Traveling right alongside the winner she was second best today but ran her second grade two placing in a row and looks like she is eager to make up for lost time.
3rd Devil In High Heels The Sidley Stud Lopez P 1:48.39
Stalked a sluggish early pace which seemed to be perfect but when the whips came out she just couldn’t accelerate as well as the first two. If I knew a reason why she didn’t show her superior class I would tell you but I have no idea.
4th Go For Glory Mb Stables Santana R Jr 1:48.40
There were only a couple of on speed horses in this race and when this filly made the lead easily and led them for a half mile at a virtual dawdle I felt there was nothing that was going to go past her. But, she has been vulnerable off the front before and despite having all favors she once again fell away pretty tamely. Just when you think you understand this race engine it throws you a curveball but I do worry that this filly will be struggling to repeat her good win in the Doubledogdare in the future.
