Jessamine (Grade 2) (BC)- $400.00 Purse
KEE- For Fillies Two Years Old
One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Turf
October 2, 2026

When we last saw Indian Fatwa, she was not bothered by having to start from post 14, coming from behind to run a respectable third in the $750.00 Untapable Stakes at KD. Now, she was needing to come from post 12 in the Jessamine, but don’t worry, she’s used to it. It’s the third time in four races that the filly has to start from the far outside in a race, so she had the field right where she wanted them, again coming from way off the pace to get up just in time for the victory. She was our second choice for the race, and was treated the same way by the bettors. Diablo Diablo is her trainer, and he scores his first Jessamine win, as does jockey V Espinoza. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:40.94, not one of the quickest times, but all the was needed. Let’s take a look!

(1/4 Mile- :23.60)- Asteromata is quick of out the gate for Mb Stables, and also starting well is Maxmillion Farm’s Amazingly, and these two have the rest of the field cleared by a length. TwinTowersRacing’s Go Woke Go Broke stalks these two, and from here, it’s a length to a group of three. Cherish is a half length ahead of the other two here for D J C Racing Stables, as Legendary Shark (Mb Stables) is on the rail with Royal Gamer (Serenity Stables) between horses. There’s a break of a length and a half to a group of four, and from inside to outside, they consist of Another Tackle (First Flight Stable), Lasting Empire (Lemax Farms), Simple B (Maxmillion Farm), and Snacks And Facts (LionKing Stables). Grass Skirt (Greyhound) runs right behind them, and at the back of the field and not worrying about a thing, we have our eventual winner from Diablo Diablo, Indian Fatwa.

(½ Mile- :47.17)- This next portion of the race sees the field spread out a bit, and that includes out front as both Amazingly and Asteromata put some distance on Go Woke Go Broke. She’s still a length ahead of Cherish and Legendary Shark, while Royal Gamer still keeps up within a length of them. The runners in the back also spread out, and we still have Indian Fatwa all the way back, and now credited with being a total of nine lengths from the lead.

(Top of Stretch,1.8F To Go)- Heading into the turn, we see Amazingly and Asteromata still out front, and running together, but within the middle of the field, we see a lot of jockeys looking for lanes as they considered making runs. Legendary Shark was in a good striking position, getting around Go Woke Go Broke to set sights on the leaders. Another Tackle, Simple B, and Lasting Empire were all in the middle of the field, yet to make their push, but have passed Royal Gamer, and now begin to have Cherish backing up to them. Grass Skirt is beginning to look interested, but not as much as Indian Fatwa, who was fun to watch right from the top of the final of the turn. At that time, V Espinoza decided it was time to make a push, but in order to do so, he had to find the best lane to operate with. Indian Fatwa would be moved from the rail, responding with burst of run, powering her way to the outside and cutting quickly into her deficit. For now, she’s only passed Snacks And Facts, but had the rest of the field concerned.

(Finish- 1:40.94)- Neither of the two frontrunners were going to have enough to hold off late chargers, and a few in the field were making effective progress. Legendary Shark tried to be first in line to make the pass, but Simple B was looking good as well, and Grass Skirt was also moving forward while dealing with traffic. All of that was simply a side act to the main show, and that was the thunderous close of Indian Fatwa on the outside lane, having more energy than even the others that were running well. She was up to fifth with a furlong to go, and that seemed to spark Simple B who tried to continue running with her once she Indian Fatwa was to her outside. Despite possibly being closer to the grandstand that inside rail at this point, Indian Fatwa was much the best with this stretch performance and will grab the win, and the all-important BC Juvenile Fillies Turf spot! Simple B’s second was strong, and is overshadowed by the performance of the winner as she beats Legendary Shark in the place photo. Grass Skirt and Asteromata formally dead heat for fourth, and the rest of the order will read Amazingly, Lasting Empire, Snacks And Facts, Royal Gamer, Cherish, Another Tackle, and Go Woke Go Broke.

About The Winner- Indian Fatwa, trained by Diablo Diablo and ridden to victory by V Espinoza, is a two year old filly by Indian Summer and is out of Fatty Lipids. She was bred in California as a second quarter two year old by Diablo Diablo, the only trainer for which she has ever known. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her second in four starts and first stake win. Her career earnings are now $387.00.
