U Can Call Me Al Prevails in Tight Bowman Mill Finish

Bowman Mill

Purse $250.00 – For Two Year Olds

6 Furlongs – Dirt

Keeneland – October 24, 2026

A new barn and new equipment proved to be a winning combination for U Can Call Me Al as he captured the 6th running of the Bowman Mill by a nose! The performance marked a dramatic turnaround from his last-place finish in his previous outing and gave his new connections plenty to celebrate. The two-year-old son of Hint Of Shark boosts his earnings to $177.00 through five career starts and this race being his second win. Mb Stables adds a second Bowman Mill victory to his résumé after entering this year’s running as the only owner represented in the field with a previous win in the race to his credit. The result moves him clear at the top of the owner leaderboard and sets a new target for the other connections hoping to match his success in the future. U Can Call Me Al completed the six furlongs in 1:09.41 at odds of 32-1. That final time was just under three tenths of a second slower than last year’s edition. I’m sure we’ll see this gelding stretch out to two turns in his next few starts. Congratulations to Mb Stables on another great victory!

Winner: U Can Call Me Al – (Mb Stables, S X. Bridgmohan) U Can Call Me Al broke a little slow from the gate and was about three lengths off the pace through an opening quarter in 22.52 as the front-runners battled for control. He settled in sixth down the backside with not a lot of running room midpack. This Ontario-bred held his position around the turn before beginning to reduce the deficit approaching the stretch. His rally gathered strength through the lane as he advanced between rivals and drew within half a length of the lead. U Can Call Me Al kept finding more through the final furlong and narrowly edged Under Pressure with Serving The King close behind. The late surge proved just enough to secure the Bowman Mill in a final time of 1:09.41. Mb does it again! Well done.

Second Place: Under Pressure – (Nakamura Stables, R. Santana Jr.) This colt raced just behind the early speed down on the rail, settling into fifth. The leaders remained less than two lengths away through the opening quarter and Under Pressure continued tracking them around the turn. He started to advance passing the quarter pole before moving into third during the stretch drive. The son of Compress drew alongside Boomer and Serving The King inside the final furlong as the battle for the lead intensified. He briefly gained the upper hand late, but U Can Call Me Al was closing just to his inside. The pair fought out the finish with Serving The King still threatening on the outside. Under Pressure narrowly lost the lead at the wire and had to settle for second after a determined effort.

Third Place: Serving The King – (Pan Farms, V. Espinoza) Serving The King showed plenty of early speed from the gate and immediately joined System Breaker and Boomer in the battle for the lead. He raced outside that pair through an opening quarter in 22.52 and continued pressing the pace into the turn. Boomer held a narrow advantage around the far turn, but Serving The King never allowed him to get away. This gelding renewed his challenge in the stretch and briefly regained the lead inside the final furlong. Under Pressure and U Can Call Me Al arrived late to make it a three-way fight as Boomer began to give ground. Serving The King battled all the way to the wire but could not quite match those two in the closing strides. He finished a close third after remaining involved in the early running.

Fourth Place: Boomer – (Serenity Stables, P. Lopez) Breaking from the gate as the favorite, Boomer broke alertly and used his early speed to join System Breaker and Serving The King at the front. He raced on the inside of that trio before edging into a narrow lead around the turn. Serving The King stayed close on his outside as Boomer took the field through a half mile in 45.60. This colt remained in front entering the stretch but was unable to shake off that persistent rival. Under Pressure then drew into contention while U Can Call Me Al was building momentum between horses. Boomer kept battling along the rail but could not find enough to repel all three challengers. He gave ground in the closing strides and crossed the wire fourth after contributing to the pace throughout.
