The Bayakoa – Grade III
OP Race #1 1 1/16m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $150.00 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.
1 Narley Kruz, trained by Brave
predominantly a turf horse she takes on dirt here and there arent too many clues as to how she will fare. Good enough to win The Nassau on the grass it very often happens at HRP that a horse makes a miraculous change of surfaces halfway through its career and that could well happen with this one. Without any clues however you have to rely on blind hope with this one.
2 Best Dressed, trained by Sc Lanciano
Ran into good form in overnights in the second half of last season and was given a chance in the Rampart in December to show how far she had come. She ran pretty well in that race beaten just a length into fourth and with decent enough works she may be well placed here to have another go at black type glory.
3 Lady Opus, trained by Luz International
A very consistent sort she has never placed outside the top three but has only won one race and that was at the free track. Good seconds in a couple of ungraded races suggests she is better than her sole win and i expect her to run her heart out as usual today.
4 Princess legion, trained by John Henry
The class filly in the race she has a graded stakes win to her name and some big efforts at all levels. Bought for $150 at the end of last year she tried to make all in the Bayakoa Handicap in her first start for the new owner and ran well to be second in the end. Her works are a bit up and down but her form lines give her a winning chance.
5 Make It Known, trained by Mb Stables
She has been picking off at a lower level in the first part f her career winning 4 from 10 last year after hitting form in the summer. A wide gate will make it tough but her works are in the ballpark and she is certainly in the best form of her life.
SUMMARY
Princess Legion should be good enough to win this but it looks a pretty open contest. Narley Kruz may be worth a hail mary bet but Best dressed and Make It Known look best of the rest.
