Coming into the race the weather did not cooperate with the field and the turf course came up soft which could have a major outcome on the race. Early in the mile and a half journey Caught Red Hoofed and Carnage hooked up for the early lead. After the first three furlongs of the race Caught Red Hoofed had edged away from Carnage by a half length and had a 5 length lead on the next closest competitor Aint He Grand. Halfway through the race the top two were still the same but Studs Chito had just pulled ahead of Aint He Grand but they were still five lengths off the lead. Z Jinxed One was in last place at this point eight lengths off the lead. The first half of the race on the soft ground went in 116 flat. With four and a half furlongs to go Carnage just edge ahead of Caught Red Hoofed, but the rest of the field was starting to take closer order. Four furlongs out Studs Chito and Aint He Grand really started to hit their strides and started taking dead aim at the early pace setters, while Z Jinxed One started to make his move from the back. Just under three and a half furlongs out Studs Chito put away both Caught Red Hoofed and Carnage but Aint He Grand and Z Jinxed One also started to make their sustained rally toward the front. Two furlongs out Studs Chito was the clear leader with Aint He Grand a length and ¾ behind with Z Jinxed One closing hard just two lengths back and looking to be the biggest danger. In the final two furlongs Z Jinxed One blew by Aint He Grad and took dead aim at Studs Chito who was begging for the wire to get there. With one furlong left Z Jinxed One had cut into Studs Chito’s lead cutting it to ¼ a length and looked poised to fly right on by and pull away for the victory and that is exactly what he did, pulling away to win with relative ease in the end. Studs Chito ran a nice second with Aint He Grand finishing third. Lets take a look at how the race broke down and payouts.
