As the horses loaded into the starting gate for this race Smoocher for MB Stables was the solid 6/5 race favorite.  As the gates opened 99/1 long shot, Don’t Stop took up the running first and went to a clear lead 1 furlong into the race. Clutch Situation settled in second 1 length back with Smoocher just ¼ of a length behind her. The first ¼ mile in the race went in 23 an 1 with no change in the order for the top three horses. Just over four furlongs into the race Don’t Stop was looking strong on the lead, but Smoocher had made his move and had passed Clutch Situation and was looking to be the danger horse on this early leader. In the final ¼ of a mile Smoocher really looked to hit her best stride and was taking dead aim at Don’t Stop. From the Back of the pack Sonoma also appeared to be moving well and she tried to make her move. With a furlong to go Don’t Stop was all out calling for the wire but Smoocher had moved just ¼ length behind and looked as if she was going to roll on by, while Sonoma had passed Clutch Situation and was still moving while in third. Just over a half furlong out Smoocher passed Don’t Stop and never looked back. Don’t Stop was able to hold off the late charge of Sonoma who finished second and third respectively.
