With the early scratch of Kiss The Snake and a muddy track, the disposition of this race changed in a big way… but don’t tell that to A Beagle Named Boo, or for that matter the handicapping of Scotty and The Green Card (both had him on top).  The John Henry conditioned gelding stayed just behind the early pace, continued to move forward as this one progressed ad hit the wire in front by a half length, winning the Mr. Prospector (GIII) in a final time of 1.24.14 for the seven furlongs.  Serpiente Party closed well for the second spot, with Johannes in third after setting all of the early fractions.

The field of ten loaded and were away from the gate in good order with Johannes getting away best of all, the trio of Cherokee People and Charleys Agent from the inside, Lucky Kommand from the outside giving chase.  A Beagle Named Boo just in behind that group, then John Pussycat, Serpiente Party next to that one, another length to Beach Ruler,
Special Project on his flank and Commanding Know was the early trailer.

Down the backside and nearing the far turn, now a half mile to run and Johannes was in front by three.  Charleys Agent on the rail, Cherokee People next to him, then a length and a half to A Beagle Named Boo between horses, Lucky Kommand on his outside, Serpiente Party skimming the rail, then another gap back to Beach Ruler along the inside, John Pussycat next to that one, Special Project just behind that pair and Commanding Know could see them all.

Swing around the turn to the top of the lane and moving past the three-sixteenth’s pole, Johannes still leading every jump, in front by two and a half lengths.  A Beagle Name Boo now beginning to emerge from the field, Charleys Agent still saving ground, Serpiente Party feeling the whip, Lucky Command out wide and trying to find more… the rest had a lot of work to do and not much time to get it done.

Inside the final sixteenth of a mile and to the wire, A Beagle Named Boo up to look Johannes in the eye and move on by, taking the lead.  Serpiente Party still trying to find more as the trio now had space… but there was no stopping A Beagle Name Boo and he went under the wire in front by a half-length.  Serpiente Party came on late to make a bit
of a race out of it and was second, while Johannes tired a bit and had to settle for third.  It was two lengths back to Lucky Kommand in fourth, Chaleys Agent fifth, Commanding Know sixth, Beach Ruler, John Pussycat in eighth, Special Project ninth and Cherokee People closed this one out.

A Beagle Name Boo is a black 3yo altered son of Captain Rush – Skyhigh Petite One, by Skyhigh Moon, and he was bred by Jive Inc. in Cal.  He now shows five wins from fifteen starts and earnings of $234.530, two of those wins coming this season, along with the bulk of that cash.  Purchased by John Henry via private sale for $60.000, this was his first stakes score since being acquired.
