1 Intimate Team 7 Illusions Corrales G 122 —

Team 7 Illusions hit the jackpot with the draw monster here with the two inside gates which will give them plenty of options in this race. The ace draw goes to this daughter of Decima that won her maiden on the main track but then went to the turf in an allowance to follow up. She was beaten into third that day but you can understand with the sires strong turf influence why the trainer tried that surface, Back to the dirt today my only problem with her will be her ability to see out this mile because as yet she has struggled a little at the end of her races when running past the six furlongs. Her works are fast and good and she could cause plenty of trouble from the inside draw.

2 Edit Team 7 Illusions Gutierrez Mario 122 —

Three races and all of them have been on off tracks so we are still in the dark if the ground stays dry for this contest. Another daughter of Decima she looks more of a router than her stable mate on what we have seen so far and her win in the mud at CD in November, her last start, was solid. I am interested to see how she goes today, she may slip in behind her stable mate and will be coming on strong at the end.

3 Thyatira Williams9 Ortiz I Jr 122 —

She has looked like a sprinter in her first four starts so the question here will be the trip. She showed loads of speed when taking her maiden at PRX over five furlongs and did the same in her last two at ungraded level but seemed to find the sixth furlong a bit too far. Whilst I am not convinced she will stay the mile but sometimes stamina over sprinting can present as looking like they weaken over shorter trips when in fact they don’t have the pace to compete when used up early. We will find out today I guess.

4 Toasting Mb Stables Moore R L 122 —

The trainer may be soaking up the sun on their sun bed but we can be sure this filly will be ready for this race and she has shown enough that she should be a competitor in this race. Out of the first four but running well in the DMR Debutante and the Chandelier she has shown enough ability to earn her a shot at the KYO qualification despite a failure in the Silverbulletday Stakes last time. It is hard to weigh her up but with a few with dubious stamina here she wont be lacking at the end and that could be key.

5 Elecktra Alydar Stables Velazquez J R 122 —

I think we can safely assume this one will be closing late although with a better draw today she may hover around mid-pack and that could be a good spot to launch her late finish from. I liked her last two efforts of last season closing in both the second time in the Untappable when she ran one of the fastest last quarters to be fifth. The stable is in good form and she is certainly a good chance.

6 Annefromgreengables Big Jd Racing Alvarado F T 122 —

Shows just how hard it is to select horses based on works as her mile work is better than a good few here but her form is far less convincing. She has been consistent enough on both turf and dirt but she was well beaten in her last two in much lesser grade so it is hard to pick her on her CV. I like the works, so maybe this trip on dirt is the key but she will have to improve a lot to be the winner on what we have seen at the track.

7 Ginger Code TwinTowersRacing Franco M 122 —

Came back in trip to win an allowance at TAM over six furlongs last time and she is another that looks more of a sprinter than a miler. She gets her chance here and the trainer has the ability to pull off little miracles in races like this so whilst I can’t put her in my selections it wouldn’t surprise me to see her run well.

8 Love Beer High Voltage Centeno D E 122 —

After a strong third in the Untappable I liked her chances in the Silverbulletday last time but being drawn wide she went back rather than forward and ended up a never dangerous fifth. I fully expect a better run today and it will be interesting to see if the trainer goes to the gaming buttons to try and get her to the front or once again leaves it up to the race engine. She is hard fit and will be fighting all the way if she can find the lead or the stalk.

9 Xtreme Pick Williams9 Corbett G W 122 —

Hadn’t looked special in four maidens last year but came on on New Years Day and looked much improved to take a maiden at FG over distance. She needs to find improvement but is entitled to but I can’t find her in my top four from this awkward draw.

10 Miss Beer Greyfriars Stable Barbosa J 124 —

Made all to win the Tempted over this trip but found the company tougher in the Golden Rod and The Forward Gal and faded when trying to repeat that effort. Prior to those latest efforts she had looked a progressive filly so today may be the acid test for her.

11 Lily Bless Her The Sidley Stud Hernandez R M 122 —

She had run well on the main track before switching to turf for her last two but as her form didn’t really change she comes back to the dirt today. Close up in a couple of state bred stakes races she may be tested by this outside gate but as this field isn’t the strongest she still should be competitive.

12 Crazy Life Nakamura Stables Gallardo A A 122 —

She has run twice over ground, once on the dirt and once on the turf but it both races ran below par. Her three wins have all come in turf sprints so it is very hard to line her up for this race although her dirt works have been pretty good and she worked a decent seven furlong time last time so this could end up being her go. I have a sneaking suspicion that she could run well today and may be the dark horse in this race.

SUMMARY

A tough race to weight up as there is nothing outstanding on form and many have shown their best form either over shorter trips or on a different surface. I will definitely be having a buck each way on Crazy Life as she has my spidey senses tingling but it is impossible to be confident. Of the others it really is a bit of a blind pick so I will go for Elecktra as she is proven over the trip and the two Team 7 runners on the inside would have to be in calculations.
