Well, I was wrong. I said Acapulco Gray would have a narrow advantage at the wire, but she had a healthy length margin victory. And that’s about all I got wrong. I picked the $434.00 Trifecta to boot. Acapulco Gray never was very far back as she stalked the leaders from fourth down the backstretch and started picking off competitors around the far turn getting a head lead at the top of the lane and drawing off to a one length victory at the end. That was the young lass’ second win in a row and third lifetime win, leaving her undefeated at six furlongs.

2nd      Assyrian Queen          Alabarda Stable                10-1 (HRP) 4-1(SRF)

Assyrian Queen continued her career of decent sprint performances with her first in the money finish in a stakes race here with another nice come from behind finish that saw her just a length late at the wire. So far, it’s hard to say if she will be satisfied with sprinting  her whole career or if she will want to stretch out as time goes on which she has given some indication of in a couple of races.

3rd     Touch Grass            Mb Stables                     9-2 (HRP) 4-1 (SRF)

Touch Grass returned to dirt and placed in the money again, so three for three ITM on dirt. She also placed second in a turf stakes, so who knows where she will finally settle. It was a nice looking come from last place to third for her, though, so she can show up just about wherever her big stable decides to place her.

4th      Lady Jane Grey                 Big Jd Racing                          5-1 (HRP) 9-2 (SRF)

Lady Jane Grey seems to fade at about the same spot no matter the distance, but as a $3.130 horse, she can afford to spend a little time working through things. She has bankrolled $61.400 thus far, so all she has to do is keep hitting a money placing now and again and work things out.
