Another Mb Stables BC entry was confirmed on Saturday, as long as he sends them there, as Aghast won the Princess Rooney by a length. This will make her a part of the BC Fillies and Mares Sprint if the trainer sends her, something that is never guaranteed with the three entries per owner restriction. It’s the third win in four starts for the Dehara filly, and the third career win for Mb Stables in this stake. Along for the ride was J C Ferrer, for their first such win. Congratulations to the connections! The time of the win was 1:21.87, which is not one of the quicker seven furlong winning times of the race, but all that was needed. Let’s take a look at it:

(1/4 Mile- :22.52)- Sabalenka surges to the front for Royalty Stables, and leads by close to two lengths over the second place D J C Racing Stables- trained Sassy State, who runs in the third lane. To her inside, and within a length, is the race’s eventual winner from Mb Stables, Aghast, and keeping them company closer to the rail is Greyhound’s Hollywood Panther. Leading the next group of horses by a neck is Ifyerwokeyerajoke, with her TwinTowersRacing companion Alice Springs to her outside. Closer to the rail here is Establo Pichon’s Eduartin, and it’s a length to Inginuity (Mb Stables) right behind them. Thousand Hours (Mb Stables) and Chase The Money (Avenue Z) are next in line, and trailing the field are Menacing Shadow (La Canada Racehorses) and Vanessa (Royalty Stables).

(½ Mile- :45.87, Top of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- Sabalenka leads the field down the backstretch, and after a mile at the top of the turn. It would be within the turn that Aghast would strike, as she had always been in an ideal lane to pounce once she was ready. Aghast came on quickly, and by the time they reached the top of the stretch, she was the new leader. For now, Sabalenka was still to her outside, but the other two that had been running with Aghast earlier, Sassy State and Hollywood Panther had been left behind. Ifyerwokeyerajoke moved to the outside, as perhaps this would be the day that winless streak could come to an end, while Inginuity looked to come on between horses. Eduartin and Alice Springs were lacking response, and Thousand Hours simply ran evenly. Further back, Chase The Money looked for a lane, perhaps following Inginuity. Vanessa wasn’t showing much, while Menacing Shadow was just now pushing to the outside to try and make a run.

(Finish- 1:21.87)- Aghast was in control during the stretch and didn’t have real major concerns as she finished this out all the way to the wire to win by a length. Chase The Money came on well to be second but was never going to have to get the winner, getting the upperhand in a photo with Ifyerwokeyerajoke, who again hits the board, but again does not win. Menacing Shadow passed by a bunch to get the fourth-place check narrowly over a dead heat for fifth between Inginuity and the tiring Sabalenka. The second half of the running order will read Thousand Hours, Sassy State, Hollywood Panther, Vanessa, Eduartin, and Alice Springs.

About The Winner- Aghast, trained by Mb Stables and ridden to victory by J C Ferrer, is a four-year-old filly by Dehara and is out of Fearful Fury. She was bred by Team 7 Illusions in Kentucky as a yearling and was acquired by Mb Stables while she was still unraced in the December 2022 auction for $52.000. The win is her eighth in 22 starts, her fifth stake win and fourth graded win. Her career earnings are now $699.350.
