Albaquirky Takes on Seven in The Jaipur

The Jaipur – Grade 1 – $400.000

BEL – 6 Furlongs – Turf

For Three Year Olds And Upward

June 10, 2023

Whoever wins this race also wins a place in the gate for the BC Turf Sprint. Will it be Albaquirky, winner of the TS Turf Sprint. Or maybe Creepy Rocky Party who finished behind Albaquirky in that race. Or will it be one of the three-year-olds taking advantage of the six-pound weight allowance? There are others in the field that might step up at the just the right time and get to the wire first.

Here’s the field:

1 Artesianic (Mo Mentum Farm)

Five-year-old gelding has yet to win a graded stakes race, though he came close in the Fool Handicap (Grade 3) in March with a third-place finish. Will need to step it up a bit to win here.

2 Albaquirky (Santan Stables)

Comes in riding a three-race winning streak. Set a new track record winning the TS Turf Sprint (Grade 2) last out. At age five, having the best year of his career so far. Could extend that streak to four.

3 Golden Charm (D J C Racing Stables)

Made his graded debut last start in the Cartier Stakes (Grade 3) and finished eighth. This is a bit step up for this gelding.

4 Devil Made Me Doit (Maxmillion Farm)

Won the Seabiscuit Handicap (Grade 2) in November. Hasn’t been back to the winner’s circle since. In spite of two triple digit SRFs, this one may be in over his head.

5 American Grandeur (TwinTowersRacing)

Three-year-old taking on older. He’ll get six-pound weight allowance, which may make all the difference. Looking for his first graded win and will need a big effort to get it here.

6 Brighter Days Ahead (Luz International)

Claimed for $50.000 in April, then won an optional claimer for his wire-to-wire for his new connections. Another one making a big step up.

7 Sarah Parker In Snow (Rock Creek)

Another three-year-old getting that nice weight allowance. This one hasn’t finished worse than second in five starts, including a win in the Paradise Creek last out. Another one making a big step up in class.

8 Creepy Rocky Party (Mb Stables)

Impressive string of races for this one, including a win in the Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes in March. Finished third behind Albaquirky in the TS Turf Sprint (Grade 2). Could be up for the rematch.

Picks: 2-8
