Several different angles to consider in this wide-open win-and-your-in scramble.
Let’s start with the scoreboard facts, State Title (Team 7 Illusions) has banked just over $282.000 in her first three races and that number tops the field. Also proven on both surfaces and just missed going two turns for the first time in her last. If she produces the same effort today, and there is no reason to think that she won’t, she should be right there.
Face Plant (Twin Towers Racing) draws the rail and with a clean breakaway should be right there after a strong effort in the Spinaway.
Looking at her conformation, I am not sure how far Killer Conquistador (Mb Stables) wants to go, but she calls the perennial top barn in the country home, so I will take the leap of faith. Good effort in the Del Mar Debutante.
Of the rest, Crait (High Voltage) has solid dirt route conformation and came running into the stretch drive of the Del Mar Debutante to suggest that further is better. Lots of backside talk about this one early on and maybe the gossips were right for a change. Expecting solid effort at a price. Spring Ginger (The Sidley Stud) is also interesting when looking at conformation. Obviously bred to route, but also leans slightly towards turf, so makes this interesting. I am taking the stance that distance is the key. Tough proposition today with the parking lot post draw, so if you back her and she doesn’t pay dividends, put her on your watch list and re-bet her when the post draw is better.
