Six hopefuls will go to the gate here at Monmouth on Saturday in search of the Gr. III Eatontown. A group of three sophomores and three five year olds, all with great turf records will try to out do the competition and take home top honors in this third of four stakes events on the card.
- The Eatontown Stakes- Grade III Purse-$150.000
- Monmouth Park – For Fillies and Mares Three Years old and up
- Mile and a sixteenth- Turf course
- June 22nd, 2019
So this is an interesting group of runners for this event this season. Two have been recent claims of late and their new barns will hope to have them heading on the right track here. The other four have all shown they could make the best of this affair and we may very likely see an across the track photo for this entire group at the line.
From the rail will be a rookie trainer by the name of Arindel and his entry of Venusian Moon. A recent claim for $80.000 up at Woodbine in late May, this five year old placed fourth of four against a 1:33 time in a mile race. The previous event she won the $100 Plenty Of Grace affair up at AQU over a soft surface. Has a record a 8 ( 2-2-2 ) on the grass and has been respected at the windows. Should make a showing today as this trainer looks to be building his barn nicely.
To her outside post will be another recent $110.000 purchase following a narrow lost in the Gr. III Beaugay at Belmont at today’s distance. Five year old Woman On A Mission ( Estero Farms ) is trying desperately to capture her first ever graded stakes win to her credit. In fourteen stakes events, her record is ( 1-6-3 ) and her trainer is hoping that these Maid of Honor placings will come to a halt today. Her SRF numbers have been climbing two points at a time, with her most recent effort earning her a 97. Time to break ahead.
From the three hole will be Deleter Of The World ( TwinTowersRacing ) who recently won at six and a half furlongs against Alw75 company north of the border. Has been competing in sprint affairs in her past three tries and now is going back to a route affair. Won an Opclm40 event at LRL at today’s distance to open this years campaign, but the final time was just a bit slower then others in here. Will make it tough.
Bach In Tune ( Threshold ) will occupy the fourth post position. I always have a soft spot for fellow writers horses and this first of three sophomores has a respectable record for just five career starts. Won her last restricted Alw57 event over at SA going a sixteenth longer, and that should translate well for this race. Went runner up two starts ago in the China Doll Stakes on the west coast, and will be seeking her revenge against Quick Fix to her outside today who won that event. Like her chances.
From the five hole will be Mb Stables’ Quick Fix. She took home the China Doll three starts ago, and has come back to finish second in the Providencia, and third in the Soaring Softly, both Grade III events. Has been prepping in the morning over at Belmont for this event and her works are decent. Will probably be made post time favorite off her record and her top trainer, so the question will be who will be able to snatch it away. Top billing.
The outside post of six will be occupied by Angel Shark ( Maxmillion Farm ) who after taking two victories home in sprint events in her first five career starts, stepped up to a miler at Belmont in the $125 Mount Vernon Stakes to steal the win by a quarter of a length. Has come back with a 1:10 and one work at Belmont last week, keeping her tight with others in this event. Main competition in my opinion.
