All Rise! Riser Has Little Trouble in LCD Ladies Sprint

LCD Ladies Sprint ($100.000 Purse)
FG- For Fillies and Mares Three Years Old and Upward Foaled in LA
Six Furlongs on the Dirt
December 9, 2023

Ever since she was claimed by D J C Racing Stables, Riser has been running really well, but her string of success even goes back before the claim as she had hit the board all of her nine races up to this point during 2023. Unfortunately, only one of them was a win, but it was time for that to change and the betting public would make the filly a slight favorite for the race. She would start the race at the back, exactly where she likes to be, before coming on strong in the stretch to score a two-length win. This is the first win in the race for both trainer D J C Racing Stables and jockey D Cohen. Congratulations to them! The time of the race was 1:09.33, which is a new stake record. Let’s take a look at it now!

(1/4 Mile- :22.47)- Heading down the backstretch, a slight lead is held by Andthentherewerenone, for Asgar, and her stablemate At Risk keeps her company at the front of the field for now. Jaded Lover is a length back on the rail in third for Mo Mentum Farm, and close to her T Boy Racing’s Holy Reception. Only a length and a half separates the top four horses. Cajunville runs in the fifth spot for Winplace and at the back of the pack, right where she wants to be, is our eventual winner for D J C Racing Stables, Riser.

(½ Mile- :45.71, Top of Stretch, 2.0F To Go)- At Risk is the new leader of the race as she gets by Andthentherewerenone while running in the turn. That one has dropped to third, as Jaded Lover’s steady performance moves her into second. Holy Reception still runs in fourth with Riser getting by the tiring Cajunville.

(Finish- 1:09.33)- At Risk and Jaded Lover looked good in the turn, but Riser was not going to let them settle it between themselves. While running close to the rail, she made progress early in the stretch, but was at her absolute best midway though, closing rapidly and making quick work of the two frontrunners. Once there, she impressively pulled away from them, making it look very easy. At Risk will be second over Jaded Lover to complete the exacta while Cajunville ends up fourth. Holy Reception and Andthentherewerenone round it out.

About The Winner- Riser, trained by D J C Racing Stables, is a four-year-old filly by Positive Thinking and is out of Leblonde James. She was bred as a first quarter two-year-old in Louisiana by Nynl Stables, and was acquired by D J C Racing Stables via Angelos Stable with a $15.000 claim in May 2023. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her sixth in 23 starts and her first stake win. Her career earnings are now $266.590.
