All Take Grabs the Win in The MTH Cup

The MTH Cup (Grade 3)- $400.000 Purse
MTH- For Three Year Olds and Upward
One Mile and One Eighth on the Dirt
July 19, 2025

After winning the New Orleans Classic in March, All Take would have two very disappointing efforts, so it was safe to see that it was important for him to bounce back in The MTH Cup. Trainer Alydar Stables would get the effort that he was hoping for, as All Take did what he needed to do, and would go on to get his fourth win of the year. So now, we can safely throw out those two poor races, something that much of the wagering public was already okay with doing, since he went off at odds of 7/2. This is the first win in the MTH Cup for Alydar Stables, as well as for jockey F Geroux. Congratulations to them! The time of the race was 1:47.11, the quickest edition of this race while being held at this distance. Let’s take a look at it now:

(½ Mile- :46.35)- Berlin jumps out to the lead for The Sidley Stud and looks to quickly break away from the rest of the field. He will lead by two lengths down the front stretch and into the opening turn and continues to hold that advantage after half a mile. Disciplinary runs in the second spot for Nakamura Stables, and to his outside, we have our eventual winner from Alydar Stables, All Take, running in third. Behind them, Maxmillion Farm’s Schopenhauer is four lengths from the leader, with Spankersville on the rail for The Sidley Stud in the fifth spot as his stablemate sets the pace. Next come Evgenii (Night Rider Stables) and Edged Out (TwinTowersRacing), with longshot Apocalyptic (D J C Racing Stables). Further back, Speter (Sheffler Stables) is well off the pace, like he usually is early on.

(3/4 Mile- 1:10.39)- Berlin completes the backstretch trip while still holding a lead of about two lengths. Right behind him, we have some action as All Take moves forward just enough to pull even with Disciplinary for second. Otherwise, not much going on with the field as Schopenhauer is still a clear fourth, a length ahead of Spankersville, who’s the same distance ahead of Evgenii. That one has pulled away from Edged Out and Apocalyptic and should be one to watch. Speter still trails.

(Top of Stretch, 1.7F To Go)- Berlin begins to weaken early in the turn, and it does not take long for the rest of the field to cut their margin to the lead. This is good for All Take, who at the top of the stretch, has pulled up alongside the leader, and is clearly going to leave him well behind soon. Disciplinary is still third, and has time still, but we had not seen a push out of him. Spankersville is fourth and now has company with Schopenhauer pulling up right beside him. Evgenii is looking strong as he takes a wide trip around the turn and has caught up to those two. Edged Out and Apocalyptic were still not showing much. Speter was gaining ground, but not quickly enough.

(Finish- 1:47.11)- All Take makes quick work of Berlin, as with a furlong to go, he is by himself and leading by a length, leading F Geroux to look over his shoulder and wonder where the new challenges might be coming from. It wouldn’t be from Disciplinary, who was simply running evenly at this point. Spankersville had room to run on the rail, and would try to make the best of it, but still needed to make up two lengths on All Take. Evgenii was running well, but not a rate fast enough to be a major concern. Closing in the wire, All Take was looking good, and ready to put his last two races behind him. At the line, he wins by almost a full length, with Spankersville getting by everyone else for second. Evgenii’s charge gets him third, a length ahead of Berlin and Disciplinary. Speter is the best of the rest, beating Schopenhauer, Edged Out, and Apocalpytic.

About The Winner- All Take, trained by Alydar Stables and ridden to victory by F Geroux, is a six-year-old by Niagra and is out of Takethemoneyandrun. He was bred in British Columbia as a second quarter two-year-old by Team 7 Illusions and was acquired by Alydar Stables via Fractious for $250.000 in a February 2022 private sale. Congratulations to the connections! The win is his eleventh in 39 starts, his tenth stake win and seventh graded win. His career earnings are now $3,201.160.
