It was a full-field but the chalk made it happen in the Woodford (GII) as Allinthegates’ Kid Commander, the 9/2 second choice, out-finished Elijah G, the 3/1 post time favorite, by a neck in a very tight race that only had six lengths from first to worst.  The final running time was a very quick 1:01.92 for the five and a half furlong stakes – a new stakes record.  Kathmandu closed a late gap to be third, nosing out B N Broadway in fourth and The Grandmaster in fifth, a three-horse photo for the minor moneys.

Kid Commander is a 5yo gelded son of Perfect Command – Pink Condo, by Kid , and he was bred in Cal by his owner, Allinthegate.  This was his thirteenth victory from twenty-one starts, and he now has lifetime earnings of$1,183.700.  He’s won four of seven seasonal starts and is about as tough as any horse when sprinting on the lawn.  Congrats to the connections!

Kid Commander taken back after the break, inched up 3p into the lane, steady gain down the lane 4p, battled foe to the wire, prevailed late.  Elijah G chased pace between foes to the top of the lane, began to accelerate 2p at quarter pole, burst to take lead at the sixteenth marker, battled, ceded late.  Kathmandu second flight 3p to the turn, lost some ground through the turn fanning 5p, good late kick, out-nosed foes for the show.  B N Broadway pushed the pace to the top of the lane, took over lane to the sixteenth, out-finished.  The Grandmaster well-back to the lane, fanned widest for the drive, best foot too late.  Mystery lacked early speed, moved up through the turn, evenly late 5p.  Pink Condor was not a factor, passed tiring rivals.  Doug just behind the pace saving ground throughout, tired late.  Draggon Storm broke alertly, set the pace to the lane, tired.  Data Overload was never involved.  Invercargill forced the pace to the turn, lost ground through the turn, tired.  Command Authority was outrun.
