Almost a Five Horse Dead Heat in Daytona Stakes

Daytona Stakes – Grade III
6 1/2 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $100.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st= Teen Angel Party Nakamura Stables Hernandez J J

Well this race had HRP stamped all over it as what looked like a quadruple dead heat turned into a dead heat between the first two. In a race with a strange mix of horses there wasn’t much between most of the finishers in the end but this one that raced on speed the whole way showed great tenacity to hold on for a share of the win. Still just a four-year-old, his appetite for racing is very strong and he is sure to be competitive in good sprints going forward.

1st= Mosquito Spankys Barn Smith M E

Whilst the other winner was on speed throughout this one came from a fair way back with a super late run that nearly claimed the win alone. He has been in good form for a while now and like the winner will be a force in these turf sprints for the rest of the year.

3rd Tank Davis Royalty Stables Berrios H I

Just a nose behind the shared winners, he did everything right but win and as the sole three-year-old ran a cracker showing that the three’s may just be closer to the older horses than normal at this time of year. This was his best run of the year so far and he may just be finding the form that made him a decent turf juvenile.

4th Top Of The Crop Maxmillion Farm Frey K

A matter of a few inches saw this one go from profit to loss in this race as he came out fourth best in the photo finish.
