All Take did something on Saturday that he didn’t do in 2023… win a race. The Alydar Stables trained bay gelding stalked the pace in The Dust Commander, then out-gamed a group of double-digit foes to take the mile and a sixteenth stakes by a neck, stopping the clock at 1:411. Tacitus, dismissed at 11/1 odds, pressed the pace setter to the lane, took the lead in the lane, but just couldn’t hold off the eventual winner, settling for the place. Mr Frost closed from the back of the pace to nab the third spot, at near 60/1, and another quarter length to Marcus Antoninus, 18/1 odds, taking the fourth spot. Only four lengths covered the field of nine.
