AM Gallops Leading Up to The KYD

4/27/2025

KYD Update

Entries soon, less than a week from the KYD, so let’s look at the workout tab to see who’s doing what –

Daemon worked 6f over the muddy CD main, going out in 1:142 b.  I’m not sure that the barn WANTED to work on a wet surface, but with rain coming early in the week and clouds in the forecast, this may have been a very smart move.

The Golden Age was impressive in an AQU gallop where the bay gelding covered 6f in 1:102, third fastest move of that group, and the two faster were part of the Mb stable – Extreme Jet going in 1:10.08 and Gold State in 1:10.21.  Can you say razor sharp?  Obi Wan worked this morning, again over the AQU surface, covering six panels in 1:103 a bullet, and all of these works were handily. Ello Santa worked on the turf… and I think we have an indication of his future.  He worked a 5f bullet, 574 at AQU.  Highway Robber doesn’t show a work since that blazing mile in 1:363 at AQU on 4/16.  Likewise, Banned doesn’t show a public work since going 6 panels in 1:11 at AQU on 4/20.  Darrow is absent from the work tab as well, which may show what Mb is bringing to the KYD starting gate.

Fawkes is another that worked over a muddy CD main, traveling 5f in 1:01 flat breezing, fastest of two.

Boss Spearman laid down a lightning-fast work at KEE on 4/15 getting 7f in 1:232 and I’d call that a head-turner of a move.  The Wood Duck Stables trainee moves up my list of horses to watch.  Red Font went in 1:233 on the same morning, so this barn looks to be messing with the volume knob… perhaps looking for eleven!  But wait, there’s moreBrooklyn Bash, fresh off of that $300.000 purchase, worked seven panels on 4/26 in 1:23 flat… that after his 23 and 2 move on 4/19.  This one could be dangerous.

In other am gallops, TwinTowersRacing’s Without Warning went 5/8ths in :584 breezing at AQU on 4/8.  Acber Farms’ In Good Order went six in 1:103 on 4/26, right in line with his normal routine.  La Canada Racehorses’ Zions Bet put in a 6f work on 4/18, getting it done in 1:102, looking like he is bouncing back from that FL Derby (GI) dud, while stablemate Mr Cockypants blew out 4f in :453, on 4/23, both of those in SoCal.  Nakamura Stables sends Dragon a full mile on 4/24, coming back in 1:381.  Red Fox Farms sent Tropical Surge six panels at KEE on 4/23, clocked at 1:11 flat.  Decal went 6f at PIM for Williams9, breezing in 1:122

That’s the current update and we will continue to probe the trainers up until race time.  Best of luck to everyone involved and feel free to site mail me with any comments on your TC hopefuls!!
