Amy Street Looks for Upset in The Sandpiper Stakes

The Sandpiper Stakes

Two-Year-Old Fillies $125,000

-Tampa Bay Downs Tampa, FL

Amy Street was taken for feed money at auction back in early September of this year by her current connections. “Street” has a win in allowance company and a good second place finish in a stakes for Nobelpark.”Street” has also shown that she does not need the lead to win, something that has yet to be proven by many of her rivals today. Will only need to improve slightly numbers wise to be on the wire here. Tin Roof Rusted from Martyparty won at first asking and then ran a banger in The Del Mar Debutante, a grade one event. She has gas and is drawn on the outside of a seven-horse field, the obvious horse to beat. Lucky Tiara from The Sidley Stud is drawn between “Street” and “Roof“. She has gas and is only a single point off of “Roof’s” best speed figure. A good gate horse in all but her last start where she fell four lengths off the lead and never made a move after three straight solid efforts following her initial outing. Guessing her rider will be in send mode.

Of The Rest:

Smoochi from Acber Farms was purchased for lunch money back in June of this year. Sent to the dark side of the sport and won easily by open lengths. Solidified that win by just missing in an allowance race at Monmouth Park and then won as the public choice at Finger Lakes in an allowance. Numbers will need to improve but not dramatically. Certainly, the exotics late threat if they go nuts up front.

Midnight Accord from Angelos Stable is a tricky read here. On the positive side she has two wins on her resume and looks to have some versatility if you paint with a broad brush. However, her numbers earned so far need another jump forward and both wins were in wire-to-wire fashion against State Bred maidens and Non winners of two lifetime claimers. Probably outside looking in here.

I Keep On Groovin for Rock Creek draws the rail and looks to possibly be able to handle any surface. “Groovin” also can close, so she should get a comfortable trip. Probably looking for a piece, rather than the whole pie today.

Warriors Wrath from Paradise Stable just broke her maiden while showing speed but not enough to lead here. She is small at 15.1 hands and is drawn with gas to her outside. Looks up against it here.
