With the running of the Senorita Stakes, this quiet weekend of racing will come to a close, and we can think even more about what lies ahead next week at CD. In this race, there would end up being five horses running following the scratch of Eighteen Ninety Two. That was our pick to win, and our second choice, Just Average, would go on to get the win on the turf course listed as good. Mb Stables is the winning trainer, and it is second win in this race. Aboard was Mario Gutierrez, for his first Senorita Stakes victory. Congratulations to them! The race was won in a time of 1:13.80. Let’s take a look at it:

(1/4 Mile- :21.89)- Out of the gate, our eventual winner from Mb Stables, Just Average, wastes no time and quickly jumps out to a length and a half lead. Funny Girl runs in second for LionKing Stables as the outside horse of three wide and running with her are Queen Kingdom (Aer Stables) and Amazing Nation (Asgar). Osage (Sccj Stables) is another length behind.

(Top of Stretch, 1.7F To Go)- There’s no drama out in front of this field, as Just Average continues to pour it on and only extends her lead further. She’s now two and a half lengths in front of Queen Kingdom and Amazing Nation. Funny Girl, who had been with those two, lost ground in the turn. Osage was lacking any type of response.

(Finish- 1:13.80)- The race seemed to be in the bag for Just Average at the top of the stretch, but just in case you were thinking that it would be possible for her to suddenly tire out and possibly blow this lead, that would not happen. Just Average was cool, calm, and confident all the way to the wire, making this victory look more like a work in company. She wins by close to two lengths, with Amazing Nation topping Queen Kingdom to complete the exacta. Funny Girl was another three lengths back, with Osage running last.

About The Winner- Just Average, trained by Mb Stables and ridden to victory by Mario Gutierrez, is a three-year-old filly by Bold Ruler, and is out of Sass. She was bred in Ontario by Mb Stables as a second quarter two-year-old, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her second in five starts, and her first stake win. Her career earnings are now $119.000.
