The Marshuas River Stakes – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

Well just as i finished writing about one four year old winning a stakes race and thinking about trends so in this very next race it happens again. Not only that we saw a wide drawn horse go near the speed and win…..is this just one of those track bias’s that are thrown at us or is it a trend that will dominate the first part of the season?

1st Miss Darna, trained by Maxmillion Farm
A fairly consistent sort she had one big run last year when a hard closing second in the soft ground of the Taylor. Looking at her form you could chalk that effort up to having a soft ground liking but she showed today that she is much more than a mudder. Stalking the lead she timed her challenge perfectly gamely winning by a neck and providing her trainer with yet another grass stakes success.

2nd Ghost Runner, trained by Sizing Europe Lodge
Made the running from the widish gate but just couldnt hold on as the younger filly out fought her close home. This wasnt a bad effort as she hadnt raced since September and may have been needing the run.

3rd Pip Kadabra, trained by Chili King Stables
This dual grade one winner charged hard late but just couldnt peg back the first two. She probably needs a bit further to bring out her best.

4th Blessed Dogma, trained by Mb Stables
With just a half length covering the first four you cant write off this lightly raced four year old just yet. Ridden with a  bit more restraint today she saw out the trip much better but the result may have turned out the same if she had gone into the lead as she normally does.
