And We Danced Gets Her Rematch with Hwin in The May

The May ($135.000 Purse)
AQU- For Fillies Three Years Old Foaled In NY
One Mile on the Dirt
March 7, 2026

The May is one of two stakes for NY-Breds at AQU on Saturday, with this one being for three-year-old fillies. It’s held on the main track at a mile, and the $135.000 that is offered represents a new high for the race, up $10.000 from last year. Mb Stables won the May last year with No Ones Complaining, a filly would be moved up into graded competition right after and ended up winning the Cotillion later on. There are eight in this field, and most of them have earned under than $120.000 so far in their careers. Here’s a look at them:

1- Frito Banditos (First Flight Stable, ridden by K J Coa)- Races on a date other than the 24th of a month for the first time in her career, but last saw the track on Christmas Eve. She’s won one of three but has yet to eclipse $10.000 in earnings thus far. With some rest, she’ll look to quickly increase on that total. This race is wide open, so certainly it’s there for the talking.

2- And We Danced (Maxmillion Farm, ridden by S Civaci)- All three of her races have come against fellow NY-Breds, with one win over three starts. Last time out, she was in a similar race, the $135.000 East View where she passed a few late to get up for second. She’ll have another furlong to run this time around, which may help quite a bit.

3- Sherbini (D J C Racing Stables, ridden by D Davis)- Also comes out of the $135.000 East View last month, but unlike And We Danced, she failed to cash a check in it. Overall, she is a more experienced filly, making seven starts as a two-year-old but still needs to step it up against stake competition. This race is as good as any to do that.

4- Diana (D J C Racing Stables, ridden by Jam Rodriguez)- With $173.270 in earnings, Diana is the highest earner in the race, and she can thank three consecutive third place efforts at this level to help that. One of them was the $500.000 Fifth Avenue, but she was still beaten by four on a muddy track that day. Likely a very good spot for her.

5- Sinister Date (Jireh, ridden by J Rosario)- Won three of her first four, all in claimers for her prior trainer. Jireh has tried to move her into the graded ranks after claiming her for $20.000, but to put it nicely, Sinister Date has simply been destroyed at that level in three starts, losing by a combined 35 lengths. Sure, this field may be a little softer, but even against these, I still think she’s over her head.

6- Hwin (Spb Racing, ridden by R Gutierrez)- Early in her career, Hwin has done everything that Spb Racing has asked her to do, going a perfect three for three. That includes a big win here last month in the $135.000 East View, where she edged out And We Danced. They will go back at it here, and even though her rival might like the eighth furlong more, Hwin should still handle it fine. It’ll be an appealing rematch,

7- My Girl Kess (Royalty Stables, ridden by G Kocakaya)- After coming up short in her first three starts, My Girl Kiss dropped down in class to take on a MSW field at TUP. She would be much the best that day, with a convincing four lengths win, and showed some better finishing kick than she had previously. The trainer hopes that continues here.

8- Doris (Royalty Stables, ridden by K Carmouche)- Ran here on New Years Day in an $80.000 MSW, and performed well despite settling for second. Following that, she would take a trip south to TP and took care of business there against three others. Heads back here as she looks to build on that performance and she seems pretty even with her stablemate at this point in her career.

Prediction: 2-6-4-7
