It was a good day for Mb Stables at the Spa on Friday, as after winning the Wilton, he would back that up with a victory in the Coronation Cup as Miss Fury got the job done, winning by about a length over Deaf Luna. It’s the fourth win for the Miss Fury, and the first time that she won a race away from GP. This is the second time that Mb Stables has won the Coronation Cup, doing it also in 2018 with Improvisational. For jockey F Prat, it is his first such win. The race was won in a time of 1:02.50, and that my friends, is a new stake record! Let’s take a look at it now!

By the way, should we begin the “Mb Stables: Countdown to 1,000” now?  He now needs 22 graded wins to have 1,000 for his career.

(1/4 Mile- :22.40)- No one was particularly hurried out of the starting gate, but emerging with the race lead at the end of the backstretch would be She Can Look, and the Sheffler Stables entry pulls out to a length lead. Deaf Luna, the post time favorite as well as our pick, runs second for Asgar as she looks to the inside the leader. Pedestal, from D J C Racing Stables, is nearby to her while running third. In the middle of the pack, we have a four wide group, and with a head in front of them, it is the eventual race winner from Mb Stables, Miss Fury, as she rides the rail. Something that, by the way, she’s a bit used to now as it’s her third time in four races starting on the rail. Sapphire Falls (Mo Mentum Farm) is right beside her, and then it’s Silver Cobra Woman (Arindel) and Believe Me Natalie (Aarons Hosses) to her outside. Lwaxana (Alydar Stables) can see them all in front of her, but don’t worry, this is how she likes it at the start.

(1/2 Mile- :45.28, Top of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- She Can Look is hoping to go wire to wire, and is looking very good right now as she holds the same length advantage that she has had the whole way. However, she has never been able to put away Deaf Luna, and we see that one still running well to her inside, and she is bringing company in the form of Miss Fury. Silver Cobra Woman is another length back, but still in good striking range. Pedestal has begun to drop out of it, and Sapphire Falls was lacking response. Believe Me Natalie was four wide but hadn’t pushed forward, and we were still waiting to Lwaxana’s closing kick.

(Finish- 1:02.50)- As the run in the stretch carried on, both Miss Fury and Deaf Luna were gradually making up ground on the leader to the point that it was inevitable that they would get by She Can Look. But now, the question would be, which of these two could outkick the other to get the win? Both were looking good for a while, but with just under a furlong to go, Miss Fury pushed in front of Deaf Luna, and with no new challengers emerging that would be enough to get the win! Deaf Luna is second, with She Can Look hanging on for third. Lwaxana didn’t really close the way we thought she could, but she’ll prevail in a tight three way photo for fourth over Believe Me Natalie and Silver Cobra Woman. Sapphire Falls and Pedestal round it out.

About The Winner- Miss Fury, trained by Mb Stables and ridden to victory by F Prat, is a three-year-old filly by Fire N Fury, and is out of Deliberate Miss. She was bred in Florida by Mb Stables as a second quarter two-year-old, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her fourth in nine starts and her second stake win. Her career earnings are now $239.910.
