$1,000.000 2yo 1m Turf Weight 122lbs
It looks like we have its very own version of the late great Bernie Bond, a king of the young horses. Asgar takes the BC Juv Turf (GI) with Classy City… another gray, another win on the day… as he kicks clear late to win by a quarter length, traveling the flat mile in 1:33.13 over the firm SA lawn. The great barns stay great as Test The Waters lands the second spot for Mb Stables a neck better than Maxmillion Farm trained Trouble Brewing in third, while 2nd year trainer Arkansas Elite lands the minor money with Diamond Haggis. Seven lengths covered this group.
Per usual, a full field of fourteen in the gate and away in good order with Test The Waters on the early speed, Diamond Haggis, Expeditiously and Pollards Best giving chase from the outside, Lights Camera Action, Perfect Sunday and Classy City from the inside, then back outside for Merry Go Round, Truth About Jokers from the rail, and Trouble Brewing. Then a gap to Foxy Devil, Numbskull, Carson G and Zensation was the early trailer.
Dashing off into the clubhouse turn, six furlongs to run, Test The Waters showing the way, Diamond Haggis on his flank, Expeditiously three wide, then a gap to a line that included Merry Go Round, Lights Camera Action between horses, Perfect Sunday on his outside, Classy City on his inside and Pollards Best out wide. Truth About Jokers on the rail, just in behind that group, then Trouble Brewing, and another gap to Foxy Devil, Numbskull, Carson G and Zensation still the trailer.
Now moving down the backside and nearing the far turn, three furlongs left to run and the front end was staying the same, Test The Waters still showing the way, Diamond Haggis trying to keep that one honest, Expeditiously trying to move forward, Classy City on his inside, Merry Go Round on his outside, Lights Camera Action was next, Perfect Sunday next to that one, then down to the rail for Truth About Jokers, Trouble Brewing with that one, back outside for Pollards Best and Numbskull, a gap to Foxy Devil, Carson G and Zensation still the back marker.
Nearing the furlong marker and this was becoming a story of two groups… those that had and those that wanted… Test The Waters still in front by a length and a half, Diamond Haggis looking like he just couldn’t go with the leader, but now Classy City moving forward and closing in with every stride, Trouble Brewing feeling the whip from the rail and out wide to Merry Go Round… there was a ton of horseflesh behind them, but nothing really looking like a breakout… and the run to the wire was on!!
Deep stretch, Test The Waters, but Classy City was coming at him… and just inside the sixteenth pole, the were eye-to-eye, but not for long, as Classy City edged past and went under the wire in front by a quarter length. Test The Waters had to settle for the second sport, Trouble Brewing running on well late to be third, a head in front of Diamond Haggis in fourth. It was another three-quarters of a length to the fast-closing Zensation in fifth, Merry Go Round sixth, Foxy Devin seventh, Lights Camera Action eighth, Truth About Jokers ninth, a nose to Carson G in tenth, Expeditiously in eleventh, Numbskull twelfth, Perfect Sunday thirteenth and Pollards Best closed this one out.
