Royal Delta – Grade III
GP Race #5 1 1/16m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $150.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.
1 Brienne The Snake Martyparty Ortiz I Jr 124 —
Did a good job on New Years Eve taking a decent allowance at SA after a consistent year which included a couple of good runs in good company. I think we may see more of her this year as she reaches what can be the magic improvement age of five so whatever she does today I will be keeping my eye on her.
2 Ignore Tucker Fractious Zayas E J 124 —
After being bought for $1,200.000 this horse became a bit of a legend as she went race after race without winning. Eventually after eight attempts she managed to win in optional claiming company but then went back to not winning in her next three. My hope and I am sure the trainers hope is that she went through a flat spot as a three-year-old and certainly at the end of the year she looked to get back to winning ways taking wins in two of her last three of the year. Her works as always are very good and there is no doubt that there is ability bubbling around inside her so today from the perfect draw, maybe she launches back into the big time.
3 Twilight Time Fractious Alvarado J 124 —
How often do we see stable mates drawn together on this “random” draw generator, well sure enough here is the second Fractious runner and whilst she doesn’t have the exposure of her stable mate, she was a decent enough three-year-old to expect a strong year in 2024. Beaten just a nose in the Mother Goose a repeat of that effort would put her right in the finish here and with the trainer riding the crest of a wave we could see a one two here.
4 Pink Attack The Sidley Stud Wilson E J 124 —
After running a close fourth in the BC Distaff off a terrible draw she ended last year right up the list of the best of her sex. By her standards her seasonal debut was pretty bad, but we could put that down to the off track and ignoring that she is certainly a class act. I may still need convincing that she is the same filly that ended last season, but this trainer knows how to win good races, and this is certainly well within her scope.
5 Ifyerwokeyerajoke TwinTowersRacing Ruiz Jo 124 —
Now a five-year-old her name has certainly gained some traction since her trainer assigned it to her back in 2021 and she will be doing her best here. Fourth in the BC Fillies and Mares Sprint in 2022 she is best known for her exploits over shorter trips but I have seen many a sprinter miraculously turn into distance types overnight so I wouldn’t be writing her off because of that.
6 Confederate Warrior Paradise Stable Castellano J J 124 —
Looks to step up in grade here after improving towards the end of last year and hitting that age of five which can sometimes lead to improvement. She was really game in winning the La Prevoyante at the end of last year and her last run could be put down to the off track so I can see her as one of those that may get into this at rewarding odds.
7 Queen Evade Party Maxmillion Farm Ortiz J L 124 —
If she has trained on from her impressive three-year-old season this this filly will be a definite winning chance. Her works says she has and a repeat of her hard closing fourth in the grade one CCA Oaks will be hard to beat in this race.
8 Nine Laffs Riggins Racing Gonzalez El 124 —
The trainer has brought this filly on pretty steadily avoiding the top competition as the filly came to herself. They risked her at claiming level to get her winning again and after surprisingly not getting claimed she went on to win the Likely Exchange last time out. She does have a little to find to compete with the best of these, but her works have been getting stronger and she has plenty of form at this level.
9 Ask Forfree Delivery Arindel Jaramillo E 126 —
Gets the wide draw and a two-pound penalty but is probably the best horse in this race so it may not be enough to stop her. Her form is outstanding apart from a mishap in the BC and her last work was very sharp. She will have to be 100% to win this with her penalties but she is certainly more than capable.
SUMMARY
Ask Forfree Delivery would be clear favorite if it wasn’t for the draw and the penalty, and she should still make the top three, but it may pay to shop around for the winner outside her if the odds are short. Queen Evade Party will be strong and could be that filly, but a good case could be made for any of these fillies and mares.
