Mami Knows Best in QE II Challenge Cup
Plenty was on the line at KEE on Saturday in the QE II Challenge Cup, with an $800.000 purse up for grabs for a balanced field of eight. Picking up the win would be the post-time favorite, Mami, for Alydar Stables, and it’s her fifth win in nine starts on the year!

Smokin Cherie Is Glen Cove Champion
With so many horses entering the Glen Cove on great form, it was a difficult race to predict. Just Average would be the large favorite due to running successfully in higher profile races, but no one in this field could be dismissed.

Glen Cove Field Is More Than Just Average
Eleven were entered into the Glen Cove, but after a couple of early scratches, we now will have just nine heading to the starting gate for the race. This is the fifth time that the race has been run, and it will be the first time that race carries a graded designation.

Who Should We Love In The QE II Challenge Cup?
The highlight of the racing schedule this weekend will be the $800.000 Grade 1 QE II Challenge Cup from KEE. This is for three year old fillies, and sends them nine furlongs on the turf course. It’s been run every year since 2005, and the purse is at its high point right now, up from $750.000 last year.

Fight Clubber Knocks Them Out in Stretch to Win Bourbon
Two year old stakes races can often give us a surprising winner, but that would not be the case for readers of our preview, as Fight Clubber showed that his win in the KD Juvenile was not a fluke by knocking out the field in the Bourbon. Why he was 19/1, I can’t explain, but take that easy money!

Tight Finish in Shadwell Turf Mile Sees Seven Is Lucky Prevail
While Seven Is Lucky may have been a 14/1 longshot in the Shadwell Turf Mile, he is no stranger to success in this race, having finished second two years ago. He’s been decent this year as well, but in this field, he would be lost in the shuffle with all of the talent around him.

King Z Rules in Pattison Canadian International
Several horses in the Pattison Canadian International took part in the KD Turf Cup last month, setting up an interesting rematch between a few of them. The bettors would make the KD Turf Cup’s winner, Sioux Arrival, a pretty big favorite, but it would be royalty, King Z, that atoned for his fifth place run in that race with a win in the Pattison.

The First Rule of Bourbon Is The BC for Its Winner
On Sunday, the Bourbon will hold the distinction of being the final “win and you’re in” race for any of the BC races. It’s one of three such races for the BC Juvenile Turf, coming just a couple days after the Pilgrim is run at AQU.

Mint Million Rematch in Shadwell Turf Mile
If trainers are hoping to get into the BC Mile by virtue of winning a “win and you’re in” race, Saturday’s running of the Shadwell Turf Mile is their last chance to do so. With just a month to go now before we enjoy the biggest weekend in racing, a field of fourteen has made their way to KEE with visions of either getting into the BC Mile or solidifying their spot in the race.

Welcome Back! Pattison Returns to the Schedule
While the days of the Pattison Canadian International offering a $2,000.000 purse and seeing Bronze Sabre dominate it like he did three years in a row, this is still a great opportunity for distance turf horses and we’re glad to have it back. After all, the race was not held in the real world last year, and it was also shelved in 2022.
