  • Chalk Up Another Win for Let Me Explain After Dueling Grounds Oaks

Let Me Explain has done it again! This talented filly came into the $1,500.000 Dueling Grounds Derby with ten wins in fifteen races, and had won the Acorn, BEL Oaks, and SAR Oaks in succession. This made her the favorite as well as being our pick to win, and she did not disappoint.

  • Balanced Field for Iroquois

This Saturday, we will see a group of promising two year olds who hope to make the BC Juvenile in a little less than two months and perhaps even return here on the first Saturday of May next year. It’s the 22nd running of the Iroquois, which is held at a mile and offers a $300.000 purse.

  • Center Of Gravity Headlines Pocahontas

At CD on Saturday, we will have a couple of great stakes races for two year olds as the BC Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies get closer. Here, we will look at the Pocahontas, which is the race for fillies, and there are seven heading to the starting gate.

  • Allow Me to Explain the Dueling Grounds Derby

The big races at KD aren’t only weekends, as this Wednesday, we will have $1,500.000 at stake in the third running of the Dueling Grounds Derby. That purse amount is double what was offered last year, so perhaps we will soon see this race receive a graded designation. It is held exclusively for three year old filles, sending them over a mile and a quarter.

  • End Of The Devil Finds Room Late to Win Music City Stakes

So far in her career, End Of The Devil seems like one of those horses that can win no matter what the conditions are. She’s achieved both on the dirt and the turf, and recently had been running well going long and finished third in the Lake George last time out. Trainer Maxmillion Farm could have stayed on that path, but instead pointed her here, to the $2,000.000 Music City Stakes.

  • Exemplary Breaks Winless Streak in Simpson Stakes

It had been eleven months since Exemplary last won a race, and he did not get off to a particularly strong start as a three year old. Recently, he had been showing signs of getting closer to that victory, and had run third in the Quick Call at SAR last month.

  • Lady Hilltopper Is Thoroughly Dominant in Ladies Marathon

Perhaps it needs to happen when the race is of a longer distance like the Ladies Marathon, but it is very rare to get a four length winner in our game in a $1,000.000 race when it was not an off track. This was the case on Saturday in the Ladies Marathon, when Lady Hilltopper left them in the dust in the stretch for the comfortable win.

  • Time To Go Long in Ladies Marathon

It doesn’t have as high of a purse as other races at KD may have on Saturday, but there is never anything wrong with running for $1,000.000. That’s what a field of ten will do in the third running of the Ladies Marathon. As it’s name suggests, it is a long race, going a little more than a mile and a quarter.

  • Interesting Blend of Horses in Simpson Stakes

The next big race at KD for Saturday to look at will be the sixth running of the Simpson Stakes, which runs as a Grade 1 for the first time this year. In 2019, the race debuted as a Grade 3 for $500.000, and was promoted to a Grade 2 two years later. The purse also has doubled from last year’s $1,000.000 amount, making this race increasingly prestigious.

  • Fourteen Fillies Take Part in The Music City Stakes

It’s another big weekend of racing at KD, with many high purses sitting there for the taking for top turf horses. Three year old fillies have filled up the starting gate for Saturday’s running of the Grade 2 Music City Stakes, hoping to get the top portion of the $2,000.000 purse that is available.
