Stronger Field Than Purse Suggests in The Ladies Turf Sprint
Nine older females will head to the gate in what is the 19th running of the Ladies Turf Sprint. Similar to the Pelican Stakes, the race ran for a small purse, $65.000, at inception, and has not been held ever year. In 2017, that purse was increased to $125.000, and it has bounced around slightly since then.

The Pelican Stakes Looks Very Competitive
Older sprinters that may not be considered to be among the elites of their division will get a chance to run for a good purse in the 19th running of the Pelican Stakes. The race debuted in 2005 for a $60.000 purse, and has not been held every year. It has been a mainstay on the schedule since 2016, which would be the first time it ran for triple digits.

Tactical Spin Defies the Odds to Win The Forward Gal Stakes
We picked Tactical Spin to win the Forward Gal Stakes, but were apparently in the minority, as she went off as a surprising 30/1 longshot, and was indeed the longest shot on the board. She would pay $62.30 to win, and we’re not really sure why she was not bet more.

GP Is Ruths House in Sweetest Chant
The way they were entered into the gate is the way that they would finish in the Sweetest Chant, as the six horses finished in perfect number order. That’s great news for Ruths House, as the TwinTowersRacing filly hit it out of the park to won by a length with a wire to wire performance.

Sweetest Chant Draws a Field of Six
A field of six will be heading to the starting gate for the 17th running of the Sweetest Chant, which is for three year old fillies on the turf. The race was a Grade 3 for a while, getting that designation in 2016, but it was downgraded back to an ungraded stake after last year.

The Forward Gal Stakes Is Completely Up for Grabs
The Forward Gal Stakes is February’s first KYO prep, and it will offer 20 points for its winner. At seven furlongs, the race is shorter than recent prep races we have seen, such as the Martha Washington and the Busanda but it still will attract a field of eleven fillies.

Confident Elegance Takes Down Soliloquy Sunset in The Martha Washington
The sun would set on one horses undefeated streak as another would steal the show and take the 20 KYO points that were at stake. Confident Elegance, who’s close to being able to boast her own streak of perfection would be able to catch BC Juvenile Fillies winner Soliloquy Sunset in the stretch and went on to win by half a length.

Grand Opening Stays Hot and Wins Pegasus World Cup Turf
With two BC winners in the Pegasus World Cup Turf, and many others that ran in BC races, an entertaining race was widely anticipated. Grand Opening won the BC Turf a couple of months ago, and stayed fresh at PRX in the meantime in preparation of this showdown, hoping to do one spot better than he did in the Pegasus World Cup Turf last year.
