Formidable Duo for Mb Stables in Kenner Stakes
The gate will be full for Saturday’s running of the Kenner Stakes, a five and a half furlong sprint on the turf course for older horses. That has not always been the case, as from 2007 until 2020, this race was held on the main track.

Bradley Stakes Draws Eleven
The Bradley Stakes is an ungraded race that takes place on Saturday, sending a field of eleven older horses a little more than a mile on the turf course. It’s a race that debuted in 2005, and held a Grade 3 designation for a little while but has never had a large purse.

Lwaxana Wins Menard Memorial Stakes Again
On Saturday, Lwaxana would become the third horse to win the Menard Memorial Stakes more than once, backing up her win in the prior edition of the race, held in late 2024, by handling the yielding turf.

Lwaxana Seeks Her Second Menard Memorial Stakes Win
It’s time for me to kick off another year of SRF coverage, and that will start with the eighth running of the Menard Memorial Stakes, which is a turf sprint for older females. The race does not carry a particularly large purse, and only reached triple digits for the first time in 2023.

All Eyes on Fried Chicken for Harlan
Saturday’s action at GP will include the thirteenth running of the Harlan, a Grade 3 on the main track that goes a mile and a sixteenth. The race debuted on the schedule in 2011, but only would begin being held every year once it gained graded status in 2016.

Field Quality in Janus Far Exceeds Its Purse Level
The Janus may “only” be a $125.000 ungraded stake, but that has not stopped four horses that ran in BC races last month from participating in it. That’s partially due to limited opportunities for turf sprinters this time of year, but it does give this race a feel of one that should go for double the purse.

Wiggins Dashes Home to Tropical Park Oaks Win
Wiggins entered the Tropical Park Oaks on a three race winning streak, a stretch that earned her this first career stake start. She would go off as the second choice, and was among our picks as well.

Tropical Park Oaks May Become Travers Day
Down at GP this Saturday, we will have the 18th running of the Tropical Park Oaks, a $125.000 ungraded stake on the turf. The race debuted on the schedule in 2005, though has not been held in every year.
