Smokin Cherie Dominates The Pebbles Field
Smokin Cherie entered the Pebbles a perfect 4-for-4 on the turf, all in her last four races, but she was still made a 20/1 longshot on the morning line as perhaps the odds makers questioned whether or not she wanted to run a mile. That would emphatically be answered on Sunday, as she would not only win, but do so by three lengths.

Menacing Shadow Claims Chilukki Crown
Once the claiming crown races were over at CD, it was time for graded competition as field of six took part in the $300.000 Chilukki. It had all the feel of an evenly matched race, but Menacing Shadow would run away with a convincing two length victory.

Glee Drives Away with Kennedy Road Stakes Win
Rain would fall at WO on Saturday, leaving the track as muddy and leading to one scratch, giving us a field of eight. The weather would not spoil the day of Glee, the post time favorite who was also our pick to win, as he showed everyone why that was the case as he just barely held off the charge of upset-minded Mystic Freak Party to get the win.

Elegance Of Light Is The One To Beat In The Pebbles
For Sunday, we’ll take a look at the Big A, where the 22nd running of the Grade 3 Pebbles will take place, drawing a field of seven. This will be just the fourth time that the race has been run here, however, as it was part of the BEL card from 2003-2021.

Glee Looks Promising for Kennedy Road
North of the border this Saturday, a field of nine will be heading to the starting gate for WO’s Kennedy Road Stakes, a six furlong race held on the main track. This is a Grade 2, and has been since it was upgraded in 2014.

Six Will Hunt for Chilukki Win on Saturday
Saturday’s racing at CD will include the 21st running of the Chilukki, which is a $300.000 Grade 3 sending female horses a mile on the main track. At inception in 2005, the Chilukki was a Grade 2, but ran for half the purse that it does today.

Be Exceptional Cruises to Maple Leaf Stakes Win
There were not many who felt that Be Exceptional was going to win the Maple Leaf Stakes, as she was by far the longest shot on the board at 53/1. She had been struggling, but as we alluded too, she’s had cold funks before and has been able to break out of them.

Honey, That Was So Beautiful Winning Bessarabian Stakes
Coming into the Bessarabian Stakes, So Beautiful won (in a dead heat) in her stake debut, the Grade 3 Chillingworth while earning a 100 SRF in the process. Adding a little distance from that race seemed like something that would only benefit her more.

So Beautiful and Honey Get a Rematch in Bessarabian Stakes
Next up at WO, we have the Grade 3 Bessarabian Stakes, which is a seven furlong race on the main track for fillies and mares. Five horses will be heading to the starting in hopes of taking the winner’s share of the $150.000 purse. The race was first held in 2010, and would become graded for the first time in 2011.

Eight To Run in Maple Leaf Stakes at WO
The BC may be over, but the race calendar still moves on, and we have several races that we can look at this weekend. Up at WO, female horses that like to run long will get their chance to run in a Grade 3 while more than likely knowing that there will not be any BC horses in the field.
