NY Stallion Series- Joy ($150.00 Purse)
AQU- For Fillies Three Years Old Foaled In NY
Six Furlongs on the Turf
June 13, 2026
The 20th running of the NY Stallion Series- Joy took place on Saturday, running at AQU for the final time before it likely returns to BEL. In this field of six, three horses would get the bulk of the attention of the betting window. Sims was the second choice at odds of 9/5, and was making her stake debut. She has not raced much as of yet, running for the third time, and having just broke her maiden at TAM last time out. In the Joy, Sims would prove that she had what it takes, prevailing in a photo at the wire with Dark Peel. This filly is trained by Royalty Stables, and it is first win in this race. K Carmouche is the winning rider, and it is the second time he has done so in the Joy. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:08.70, the quickest of the three editions held here, but the only one run on firm turf. Let’s take a look at it!
(1/4 Mile- :22.98)- Moving down the backstretch, Bella Ballerina is out in front for Jireh, but it’s not by much. She’s running between Maxmillion Farm’s Used Less, who is on her outside, and the one we picked to win, La Canada Racehorses- trained Ice Barbie on her inside, and each are within half a length. Our eventual winner from Royalty Stables, Sims, stalks the pace, and she does this while running in the lane behind Used Less. It’s a half length to Maxmillion Farm’s And We Danced, and another half length to Dark Peel, who’s running in the silks of Our Athletes.
(½ Mile- :45.98, Top of Stretch- 1.8F To Go)- Bella Ballerina backs out of it within the turn, leaving Used Less and Ice Barbie to have the top two spots. Used Less leads by half a length as she looks to bring this home in the stretch. On exit of the turn, K Carmouche slides Sims over to the fourth line, hoping for a strong stretch run with only a length to make up. And We Danced and Dark Peel have yet to make a move, but they have also not lost any ground, and have plenty of time.
(Finish- 1:08.70)- Used Less wins the battle over Ice Barbie, but she has new challengers to be worrying about as Sims methodically cuts into the lead early in the stretch. With a furlong to go, she’s within a length, and while she has time to get by Used Less, her bigger concern is making a big move on the rail, as Dark Peel is hitting her best stride and coming on strongly. Approaching the wire, it’s Sims in front but Dark Peel is not going to down without a fight. These two end up hitting the wire together, and a photo is needed to determine. It will reveal the wire came up not a moment to soon for Sims, who wins by a head over Dark Peel. It’s a length to Used Less, and another to Ice Barbie. And We Danced and Bella Ballerina round it out.
About The Winner- Sims, trained by Royalty Stables and ridden to victory by K Carmouche, is a three year old filly by Valvano and is out of Crean. She was bred by Royalty Stables in New York as a third quarter two year old, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her second in three starts and her first stake win. Her career earnings are now $107.44.
