  • Catori Earns Very Impressive Win in The Cicada

The Cicada is not one of the bigger stakes out there, but it can be the type of race that propels a horse into bigger and better things. Catori is a good example of that, as after breaking her maiden last month and working very well earlier this month, she seemed like a good choice to take another step forward, and she would do exactly that.

  • Six Run in The Cicada on Saturday

For this time of year, this weekend is unusually light with races, but that doesn’t mean there is nothing going on. It will give us a chance to look at some ungraded stakes that may have gone under the radar on a prep race weekend.

  • Fractious Hopes Mystery Stays Hot in Silks Run

The Silks Run will be kicking off this Saturday for the seventh time in its history, and it will be the first installment of the race that features a triple digit purse. This five furlong turf sprint brings together a field of eight who have had varying degrees of success over their careers.

  • Mintmach Overpowers the Field Late in Challenger Stakes

Mintmach was claimed by Nakamura Stables in October of last year, and was making his third start with the trainer. He had previously had a good, though inconsistent career under Nolespan Racing, and Nakamura is hoping to make him more reliable.

  • Longshot Shining Moments Wins The Hillsborough Stakes

Horse racing can be very unpredictable. Virtual horse racing, even more so. When everything seemed to look good for Number Nine to show her class and continue her strong run of form in the Hillsborough Stakes, she won’t even be a part of the exacta. Instead, the win goes to Shining Moments, who’s a very accomplished horse in her own right but her form was not at the same level as Number Nine’s.

  • The Challenger Stakes Will Live Up to Its Name

A field of eleven will be heading to the starting gate for The Challenger Stakes as a part of the TAM Derby undercard. This is a smaller Grade 3, and it is only the third year that has run as a graded stake. It first appeared in 2005 as ungraded, and was only a $65.000 race back then.

  • Number Nine May Be Too Tough for The Hillsborough Stakes Field

As we move closer to the TAM Derby, we’ll get a look at some of virtual racing’s top female horses as six will run in the 18th running of the Hillsborough Stakes. Among them will be the reigning BC Fillies and Mares Turf winner, Number Nine, but she is not the only one in here who made a start in the BC last year.

  • Late Burst Wins The Davona Dale Stakes for Curlina

It took a lot of money, $450.000, for Arindel to get Curlina, but in her second start since the sale, the filly is off to a good start in getting some of that money back. The purse money for The Davona Dale Stakes is part of it, but perhaps more important are the 50 points for the KYO that she just earned.

  • From Last to First: Sunshine Scooter Wins The Fountain Of Youth

The Fountain Of Youth was full of impressive horses, and Sunshine Scooter deserved the right to be considered one of them after he finished third in the Holy Bull but we had the feeling that he might get lost in the shuffle a little bit. He would go off at odds at 15/1, and after six furlongs of this race, pretty much everyone was ready to forget about him.

  • Super Rail Trip for Shes A Super Freak in Beholder Mile

It was about a year ago this week where Shes A Super Freak would pick up the biggest win of her career, winning the Davona Dale Stakes at GP. That is a race that also ran today, but a year later, this filly was on the other side of the country, looking to pick up a win in the Grade 1 Beholder Mile.
