AQU Race #6 6f Turf Stake
Purse $150.000 (plus up to $22.500 for NY-breds) For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.
1 Double Zee TwinTowersRacing Silvera Ru 124 —
A decent sort and drawn well she finds a decent opportunity here on a surface she has run well on a few times. As a three-year-old. she was a very good fourth in the grade one Test and that sort of form would be good enough here. She comes back to black type and may run well if getting up on speed at a reasonable pace.
2 Avant Garde Bigchief Stables Carmouche K 124 —
Lightly raced in the last couple of seasons, she has been very good winning 4 from 7 in the last two years. She is proven over this course and distance and gets in with no penalty for a stakes win two back. A definite chance from a great gate.
3 Macka Diamond Nakamura Stables Alvarado J 124 —
A proven sprinter in this grade, she has been close in plenty of good races including being nosed out in the Monrovia back in April. A recent pipe opener after a bit of a break she should be right for today and looks a strong contender.
4 Fun Dip Jokerjoes Rodriguez Jam 124 —
Won the Royal North at grade three in May, so is well placed in a field like this. A good allowance win over this course and distance last time in a fast time she should be a favorite to win.
5 Sune Lee Riggins Racing Rosario J 121 —
Brought right back in grade to win a little race at LAD last time in her first race on turf but is far better than that level as she had proved with placings at Oaks level races and a win in the Untappable. She can sprint as she proved in the Ladys Finger and the trainer will be hoping for some pay back for the $265.000, she cost them to buy from Aer Stables.
6 Shared Adversity TwinTowersRacing Luzzi L J 121 —
Only broke maidens at the start of the year she has been pretty highly tested since and hasn’t been too bad. An On pace type she shouldn’t be inconvenienced by the trip and will be a contender here.
7 Wild Cats Mo Mentum Farm Castellano J 124 —
The two most accomplished stakes horses are drawn in the two wide gates today which feels a bit like HRPs version of handicapping. Perhaps better known over longer trips she has proven herself in sprints, most notably in winning the Vagrancy Handicap on the dirt, she certainly looks like one of the favorites for this race.
8 Mo Ki Mo John Henry Davis D 124 —
Probably not the horse she was, but she still maintains enough ability to take a race like this. The winner of 11 races in turf sprints the wide draw means she may go to the back and with a few looking to go on-speed here she could run over them late.
SUMMARY
A tough race to call with some quality in the field but none which stand out. The race may set up for Mo Ki Mo to find the winners circle again although I feel Fun Dip may be hard to beat if finding a good spot in transit.
