Ava Makes Her Seasonal Debut in The FL Oaks

The FL Oaks – Grade III
TAM Race #8 1 1/16m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $200.000 For Fillies Three Years Old.

1 People Easer Mb Stables Centeno D E 120 —

This improving filly steps over ground for the first time today after setting up a four from six record in sprints including a strong win in the Stewart Manor at the end of last year. On breeding, she should certainly see out the trip and one feels if the champion trainer thinks she is ready then she certainly is, and she could end up being an obvious choice. Her work over the dirt mile suggests she is ready for this mile and sixteenth and with the ace draw she must be a main contender.

2 Ruths House TwinTowersRacing Geroux F 120 —

Ran a brilliant fourth in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf last year and showed she has retained than two-year-old ability with a strong win in the Sweetest Chant last time. She certainly looks a form choice for this jumping from the ideal gate.

3 Spanish Empire Arindel Gallardo A A 120 —

Arindel bought this one from the Smokey Stover fire sale and she came right out and won her maiden for the new stable last time. We don’t know how deep her talent runs yet but today will give us a good idea.

4 Creepy Ruler Mb Stables Spencer J P 120 —

Another top chance from the champions yard she has the opposite running style to her stable mate, so they look well covered her for any race scenarios. The winner of three at overnight level she is still unproven at this level, but her works suggest she is up to it.

5 Lightning Blackout Red Fox Farms Camacho Sa 120 —

A closing type that has got the timing wrong in her last two, she may find it tough from this draw to get things right today and may benefit from a click of the gaming buttons to get her nearer the pace. After she won her maiden at the end of last year, she ran well in a couple of ungraded races finishing too late in both, but doing enough to suggest a good win is in the locker.

6 Categorical Decision Asgar Ferrer J C 120 —

Her form looks a bit hit and miss, but at her best she will certainly be competitive. Her biggest failure came when ridden cold in the Surfer Gal but she looked pretty good off the front in the Victorian Queen Stakes so a lot will depend on how she gets away from this sticky gate. If she can get close enough early or even lead, she should be part of the finish.

7 Sannys Legacy Threshold Lopez P 120 —

The winner of her last three, she is a progressive sort. She may just favor an off track, so look out for those conditions but she just managed to get home in the Tepin on a dry track so it may not be too much of a problem. The gate and her late finish seem to be her biggest negatives.

8 Ava Royalty Stables Velazquez J R 120 —

The BC Juvenile Turf winner winning her last three including the Miss Grillo as well as her brilliant BC win. This is without a doubt the best performed filly in the race with some of the best works so the only negative for her may be the wide gate. On form she is an odds-on favorite.

SUMMARY
Ava looks good here, but there is always a worry when the BC juvenile winners face a new season. She does however look an outstanding chance for this with the two Mb Runners likely to be competitive along with Ruths House.
