Protection settled near the rear then ran on strongly taking second in the home stretch holding on to that position past the wire.
Shadow Of A Doubt settled in last place eight lengths off the pace then ran on very strongly to take third in the final furlong.
Years Go Bye lead the field from the off then weakened back to finish fourth beaten by five lengths.
Zip broke and raced in second the just went backwards to finish last of the five runners beaten by eight lengths.
