As we get closer and closer to Championship Weekend, I’ll be doing a series of updates on the BC races that I’ve been assigned. For this first update, we have the G1 Filly and Mare Turf. First we’ll look at the leaderboard; horses that have automatically qualified through the “Win and You’re In” program will be given the first spots and then the rest of the field will be placed in the remaining slots.
G1 BC Filly and Mare Turf Leaderboard as of 10/08
#1 Zalinda (Threshold) {AQ vis G1 Flower Bowl}
#2 Yankee Stadium (Iolaus Racing) {AQ via G1 Rodeo Drive}
#3 Proud Eights (Mb Stables)

#6 Number Nine (Smokey Stover)
#7 Maggie Greene (The Sidley Stud)
#8 Ewa Beach (The American)
#9 Hash Tag Hash (Fractious)
#10 Fangs Of The Storm (Arindel)
#11 My Girl Makita (Smokey Stover)
#12 Too Scared To Party (Smokey Stover)
#13 Classic Princess (Maxmillion Farm)
#14 Ice Crystal (Smokey Stover)
1st Four Out
#15 Bagina (Chili King Stables
#16 Intanga Rose (D J C Racing Stables)
#17 Amalfi (D J C Racing Stables)
#18 Delinquent Assembly (Nakamura Stables)
Where We Stand: The first thing to notice, Smokey Stover has six ladies qualified, but can only run three, so that would bring Bagina, Intanga Rose, and Amalfi into the main body of the field and make Delinquent Assembly the first horse out. Any horse not in the Smokey Stover barn that is currently in the main body of the field can feel pretty secure with their situation. Smokey Stover has quite a hand for this race, but it will be interesting to see which fillies/mares he decides to play.
Races To Watch: Saturday’s G1 First Lady from KEE is an automatic qualifier therefore any “new shooter” winning would shake up the field a little bit. Amalfi scratched from that race after getting a wide draw so D J C Racing Stables will be watching that one with interest. Next weekend, the last three points races in the division will run with the G2 Sands Point at BEL and G1 QE II at KEE on Saturday before the G1 Taylor at WO on Sunday.
