10 CD Foster (GI) [BC]
$1,000.000 4yo&Up 1 1/8m Dirt 122lbs
One of the Big Ones for the summer handicap types, the Foster (GI) is a classic mile and an eighth test for the older gents, and this one can get lost in the big summer-time races… no chance here, as we take on the field of fourteen and can we find a winner?
I’m taking Wahpekute Sioux as the top selection. I liked that PIM Special (GIII) win, a lot, and I think this one may be coming back to form in a big, bad way. He just missed in the OP Hcp (GII), prior to that, and you don’t put $2,200.000 in the bank unless you have some class and ability… if he’s right, and I think he is, look out.
Let’s go back towards the inside and put Spankersville in the second spot… does he ever run a bad race? Even that eighth in the BC Classic (GI) he was only two lengths back, and he looked sharp taking the Gold Cup (GI) at SA last out. He’s always a handful, and you should not leave him off of your tickets.
Let’s continue down to the rail and give Gigabyte a big chance to get it done in this one. Things were looking tough last fall and into the winner, but ’24 has seen a resurgence and that Alysheba (GII) win, over this track, tell me that you’d best pay attention to him. Three wins in a row coming into this race… yeah, he looks ready to fire a big one.
The Green Card says to keep Angle Of Attack in your sights, as well, so bet accordingly.
