Three Year Olds

A field of eleven three year old sprinters are going to be heading to the gate for this years edition of the Swale Stakes here at Gulfstream Park. There is a bunch of nice runners in this field for sure and it definitely should be an exciting race. Now let’s take a look at this field.

1. Shadowsilver (1-1-0-0 $0.000), trained by Fractious

This horse right here is coming into this race off of a maiden breaking score in his only career start which was on the free side at Penn National in the slop. He set the fractions that day and just romped clear to win by three lengths that day. He will have to run a huge race to win in here though.

2. Lionking Invader (6-2-0-0 $65.200), trained by Estero Farms

Well Estero Farms has this horse entered up in this race to try and defend his title as the winning trainer in this race. Last year he sent out Horse Of The Year Pretty Ferro in this race so maybe this could also be a stepping stone for this horse. I don’t think he is that quality but anything can happen for sure.

3. Fall Of Sparta (4-3-0-0 $16.320), trained by Threshold

Here is a the first stakes winner that we come across but that stakes race is not a whole lot to brag about. He still did win a stakes even though it was in a thirteen dollar stakes race at Portland Meadows. But hey maybe this horse is a better than I think he is and maybe he will surprise me.

4. Man Childe (5-2-0-1 $53.200), trained by Our Athletes

The first horse from Our Athletes that we come across in this race is this black colt by Commanding that is a stakes placed runner in his two year old season. He hasn’t been seen since a fourth place finish in the Inaugural at Tampa in mid December. I think he has a lot of potential but I’m not sure he has reached enough to win this race yet.

5. On The Attack (3-2-0-0 $79.360), trained by Mb Stables

Another stakes winner that is in this field right here and he is coming into this race off of that stakes win which was in the Sugar Bowl Stakes at the Fair Grounds. He was gelded after that victory and may have improved after that. I think he will have a pretty good chance to win this race.

6. Starling (6-1-0-3 $30.930), trained by John Henry

This horse also ran with On The Attack in the Sugar Bowl at Fair Grounds but he ran third day and got beat by three lengths. That was his first start for trainer John Henry after bought him for twenty bucks. I think this horse is not a bad horse but I also think that this is too much of an ask for him.

7. Rocky Mountain Hi (6-2-0-0 $94.800), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Once again we come across a stakes winner in this field. This horse won the Ellis Park Juvenile as a two year old but has been winless since that race. He has tried some graded stakes races and he has tried to route also with no success. I don’t think he will be much of a threat to be honest.

8. Rare Species (2-2-0-0 $11.400), trained by Aer Stables

This runner is coming into this race making his first start for trainer Aer Stables because he claimed this horse out of his last start for fifteen dollars at the Fair Grounds. He won that day in the slop by a length and is now making a very big step up in class. He will have to run a huge race to win.

9. Salar De Uyuni (5-3-1-0 $74.050), trained by Mb Stables

The second runner from Mb Stables right here and this horse is going to be making his second start for the connections. Mb Stables is this horses fifth different trainer since he has been active and he has been exchanged for prices ranging from one dollar to two hundred and seventy five dollars. I think he has a good chance to win.

10. Space Force (4-1-1-2 $42.970), trained by Our Athletes

The second entry from Our Athletes in this spot and this horse is coming into this race is off of his maiden breaking score which was here at Gulfstream Park against Florida bred competition. He won by two lengths that day and it was a nice win for sure. He will have to step it up to win this race though.

11. Sneaky Little Bandit (6-2-1-0 $67.200), trained by John Henry

Also the second runner from John Henry right here and he is entering this race off of a seventh place finish in the Grey Stakes which is a grade three. He won the first two starts of his life but has been winless since. I just don’t really see him changing that from this post and against this competition.

Summary

Well this is a field full of very solid horses but there really is not a standout in this race to me. But this is a competitive race because is seems like most of the horses are very even for sure. It will be a good race I think regardless of the outcome or anything like that. Good luck to all in the race.
